To customize clothing or furniture in Heartopia, create and save a design on the Drawing Board, then apply it at the Workbench using the matching workflow. Clothing uses the Scissors option and a Tailoring Ticket; furniture uses compatible Joinery furniture and the painting or clip-art option. These steps and unlock details are community-reported, so check the live game for current labels, requirements, and prices.

How to customize clothing
- Open the Drawing Board and choose a clothing template that matches the item you want to customize.
- Create your design and save it before leaving the editor. An unsaved design will not appear in the application flow.
- Go to the Workbench and open the Scissors workflow.
- Select the clothing item, choose your saved design, and apply it with a Tailoring Ticket.
- Equip the finished item from the Wardrobe.
If a design is missing, check that you saved it, used a clothing template, and have a Tailoring Ticket. The guides report that extra Tailoring Tickets may be available for Moonlight Crystals, but current shop pricing should be checked in-game rather than assumed. [The Heartopia painting tools guide]

How to customize furniture
- Complete the Brushstroke Whimsy quest, then use the Drawing Board with a matching furniture template to create and save a design.
- Put compatible Joinery furniture in your inventory or storage. If the item is placed in your home, move it before opening the Workbench workflow.
- At the Workbench, select the furniture item and choose the painting or clip-art workflow.
- Apply your saved design using the painting material shown in the current Workbench interface.
Not every furniture category is reported to support designs. The guide does not establish a definitive compatibility list, and material names may change between versions; use the live Workbench display to confirm what the selected item needs. [The Heartopia painting tools guide]

Where to find the Drawing Board, and what unlocks it?
A community guide verified August 13, 2026 reports that the Drawing Board becomes available at D.G. Member Level 14 through the Brushstroke Whimsy quest with Dorothee, and that it can be obtained from Ka Ching at the General Store. The same guide reports a 2,000 Gold price. Treat the level, quest route, NPCs, and price as version-sensitive reports, not guaranteed current requirements; check the game for the current unlock and cost. [The Heartopia painting tools guide]
Another community guide, updated April 6, 2026, instead describes a Level 5 unlock through an “A Splash of Color” quest with Lumi. What to check when a design cannot be applied
- The design is not listed: Confirm that you saved it before leaving the Drawing Board.
- The design does not fit the item: Recreate it with the relevant clothing or furniture template.
- The clothing workflow stops: Check for a Tailoring Ticket in the Scissors workflow.
- The furniture item is unavailable: Move it to inventory or storage and confirm that it is compatible Joinery furniture.
- The required furniture material is unclear: Read the current material name and requirement in the Workbench rather than relying on an older guide.
