Identify the space before you start
“My character’s home” can refer to several different features. The official App Store listing’s feature descriptions and version history separate the Player Home, character homes, Pocket Rooms, and cabins. Those spaces should not be assumed to share the same editor or button prompts. The official App Store listing is the best place to check the current feature names and version history, while the official game site provides the publisher’s broader description of the game and its cabin-decorating features.

If you are standing inside a cabin, the following procedure is the practical, documented route. If you are in the Player Home, character home, or a Pocket Room, look for that space’s own decorating prompt rather than searching for a cabin-only icon.
How to decorate a cabin
The detailed cabin controls come from the community-maintained official game wiki, not an inspected developer manual. Labels and controller prompts can change between game versions or platforms, so treat the wording below as a reliable description of the available actions, while checking the on-screen prompt in your own version.

1. Enter decorating mode
Open the cabin’s decorating mode using the interaction shown by the game. Decorating mode is the state in which you can browse furnishings and edit items already placed in the room. If an interaction does not open an editor, confirm that you are in a cabin and not another home type; the game presents these spaces as separate features.
2. Open the furniture option
Choose the furniture option in decorating mode. Browse the furnishings available to your character and select an item to place it in the cabin. Only items available to your character can be selected, so an empty catalogue does not indicate that the editor is broken; it may simply mean you have not obtained that furnishing yet.
3. Position a new item
Place the selected furniture item in the room, then use the on-screen placement controls to position it. Work from the largest pieces first—such as beds, tables, or major seating—so smaller decorations do not block the layout you are trying to build. The documented editor is designed for repositioning placed furniture, so you can revise the arrangement instead of committing to the first placement.

4. Select furniture that is already placed
Select a placed item to reveal its editing controls. The cabin instructions document three actions for a selected furnishing:
- Rotate: turn the item to face a different direction.
- Remove: take the item out of the room and return it to your inventory.
- Confirm: accept the current position and finish that edit.
Because removal returns the item to inventory, you can safely clear a crowded corner, test a different arrangement, and place the same furnishing again without losing it.
5. Confirm each change
Use the confirm control shown after positioning or rotating an item. If a piece appears to stay selected, it may still be in edit mode rather than permanently placed. Finish the edit before selecting another object, especially when several decorations overlap visually.
How to change cabin wallpaper and flooring
Wallpaper and flooring are changed through a separate paint-roller control rather than the ordinary furniture browser.
- Enter the cabin’s decorating mode.
- Choose the paint-roller icon.
- Browse the wallpaper or flooring styles available in your player inventory.
- Select the style you want to preview or apply.
- Confirm the change using the prompt shown by your version of the game.
The cabin wiki describes these choices as coming from items already in your inventory. If a style is missing from the paint-roller list, verify that you own it and that you are editing the cabin space you intended. Wallpaper and flooring are room-surface choices; they are not the same operation as placing a rug, table, or other furniture.

Choosing a surface before arranging furniture
Changing the floor or walls first makes later placement easier to judge. A dark floor can change how light furniture reads, while a patterned wall can compete with small decorations. This is a planning recommendation, not a separate game requirement: the documented editor lets you revise both surfaces and furniture, so you can return to either choice during the same decorating project.
Cabin floorplans, layouts, and kits
Cabins can use different floorplans. The floorplan changes the cabin’s shape and therefore the space in which furniture can be arranged. The floorplan documentation is separate from the basic furniture instructions and should be treated as cabin-specific.
The initial small-room plan
The floorplan guide describes the small-room plan as initially unlocked. Other plans can change the cabin’s shape. Exact unlock details can depend on the game version, so use the requirement shown in your own cabin rather than relying on an old button prompt copied from another platform or update.

Changing plans requires clearing the affected spaces. Before applying a different shape, remove furniture and other contents from the spaces the game identifies. The game offers an option to save the removed contents as a kit. A kit preserves the cleared contents so you can redecorate without manually remembering every item.
- Open the cabin’s floorplan or layout control.
- Review which spaces must be cleared for the new plan.
- Remove the contents, choosing the option to save them as a kit when offered.
- Apply the new floorplan.
- Decorate each resulting space again, using the saved kit as your source of furniture.
Do not treat the kit as a second copy of your furniture. Its purpose is to preserve the contents removed during the floorplan change, allowing you to rebuild the room after the shape has changed.
Decorating larger plans
Larger plans can contain separate spaces. The floorplan guide says these spaces are decorated independently. If one room looks unchanged after you edit another, that is expected: move to the specific space you want to alter and open its decorating controls there.
Player Home: what is confirmed and what is not
The Player Home is not simply another name for a cabin. Official feature information describes it as a customizable space that can be upgraded, and the App Store history mentions customization of selected floors and walls. However, the inspected official material does not specify the Player Home’s exact menu path, furniture controls, unlock conditions, or whether every cabin action appears there.
That distinction matters when you are following a guide. The cabin editor’s furniture button, paint-roller icon, and floorplan behavior are documented for cabins. They should not be presented as verified Player Home controls. In the Player Home, follow the interaction labels shown by your current game build. If the editor uses a different icon or opens at a different point in progression, that is not evidence that the cabin instructions are failing; it may be a different home system.

A safe Player Home workflow
- Confirm that the room is identified as the Player Home rather than a cabin, character home, or Pocket Room.
- Look for the home’s own customize or upgrade interaction.
- Read the on-screen requirements before attempting to change a wall, floor, or furnishing.
- Make one change, exit the editor, and re-enter to confirm that it saved.
- If a control described for cabins is absent, stop and use the Player Home’s displayed controls instead of forcing a cabin procedure.
This approach avoids inventing an unlock condition or menu path that the current official documentation does not establish.
Character homes and Pocket Rooms
Character homes and Pocket Rooms also appear as separate features in the App Store version history. Their inclusion in the same game does not establish that they accept the same furniture catalogue, paint-roller menu, or floorplan kits as cabins.
When a decorating prompt behaves differently, check the space name first. A character home may be tied to a specific resident, while a Pocket Room is presented as its own room feature. Use the controls exposed by that room. If you are writing down a layout for later, record the space type with it; a cabin kit or floorplan instruction should not be assumed to transfer to a Pocket Room.
Planning a cabin makeover
A short planning pass prevents unnecessary clearing when you are using a different floorplan or trying to coordinate surfaces and furniture.
Choose a design goal
- Functional arrangement: place the largest furniture first and leave clear paths around it.
- Theme arrangement: choose wallpaper and flooring, then select furniture that supports their colors and shapes.
- Collection display: group related decorations while leaving enough open space to see each item.
These are layout strategies rather than additional game rules. The editor’s rotate, remove, and confirm actions make it practical to test alternatives.
Use a reversible sequence
- Record which cabin and floorplan you are editing.
- Apply the wall and floor style through the paint-roller icon.
- Place large furniture.
- Rotate pieces to establish the room’s orientation.
- Add smaller decorations.
- Remove and return any item that crowds the layout.
- Confirm each edit before moving to the next object.
If you intend to change floorplans later, do that before a detailed decorating pass. The game requires the spaces to be cleared, and the kit option is most useful when you deliberately preserve the existing contents.

The official Tea Garden page presents a furniture and decor set with a garden-party style for cabins. It is an example of a coordinated theme, not a prerequisite for customizing a home. You can use the same design method with items already in your inventory: establish a wall and floor combination, then rotate and group furniture to create a consistent visual area.

Controls, versions, and platform differences
The official site lists Nintendo Switch editions, and the App Store listing reflects the Apple version. The same feature name may expose different button prompts on touch controls and a controller. Use the icon or button legend shown in your game rather than assuming that a prompt from another platform is identical.
Version history can also change how a space is named or when a feature appears. The App Store listing is updated over time, so check its current entry when a newly added home or room is mentioned. For cabin mechanics, the wiki pages are useful for granular actions but are community-maintained; verify a precise unlock requirement or platform-specific prompt in your own version.
Troubleshooting common decorating problems
“I cannot find the furniture editor.”
Check whether you are in a cabin. The documented furniture browser and selected-item controls are cabin instructions. In a Player Home, character home, or Pocket Room, look for that space’s own customize interaction.

“The wallpaper or floor I want is missing.”
Open the paint-roller menu and check your inventory. The cabin procedure lists styles from items you already own. A style that has not been obtained will not be available merely because the paint-roller icon exists.
“Removing an item deleted it.”
For cabins, the documented remove action returns the selected furnishing to inventory. Check your inventory before assuming it was lost, then re-enter decorating mode to place it again.
“My new floorplan cleared the room.”
Clearing spaces is a requirement for changing cabin floorplans. If the game offered to save the contents as a kit, use that kit to rebuild the cleared spaces. Separate spaces in a larger plan must be decorated independently.
“The instructions do not match my buttons.”
Read the prompt displayed by your platform and version. The available action—rotate, remove, or confirm—can be the same even when the button symbol differs. For a Player Home, do not substitute cabin controls when the room exposes a different menu.
