In Minecraft Education Edition, the documented ways to “dance” are coding activities: you can choreograph a sequence for the Agent or use the Hour of Code Dance Studio to give armor stands named dance moves. The official materials reviewed do not document a general player-avatar dance or emote menu.
How do you dance in Minecraft Education Edition?
Choose one of two lesson-based activities. Dance Dance Agent is a coding exercise about building and repeating a movement sequence for the Agent. The Hour of Code Dance Studio uses named dance actions for armor stands. They are different activities with different targets and coding approaches.

How do you make the Agent dance?
Use the Dance Dance Agent activity in the Coding with Minecraft workbook. It asks learners to create a unique dance for the Agent: first make a sequence of moves, then use repeat and for loops to make the sequence happen again. As the workbook puts it, “Dancing is a perfect example for loops because when you dance, you often repeat the same moves.”
The workbook links to a MakeCode tutorial import for the activity. Follow that linked lesson for its specific setup rather than relying on generic instructions: the workbook description does not provide every click or name each required block. The central idea is to define a sequence and use loops to repeat it.

How do you choreograph armor stands in Dance Studio?
The Hour of Code Dance Studio is a separate activity. Its educator guide describes choreographing dance moves with code and gives these lesson-specific Python examples:
- Armor stand One — Dolphin Disco:
hoc.armorstand_dance(ArmorStand.One, Dance.DOLPHIN_DISCO) - Armor stand Two — Mushroom March:
hoc.armorstand_dance(ArmorStand.Two, Dance.MUSHROOM_MARCH) - Armor stand Three — Golem Gallop:
hoc.armorstand_dance(ArmorStand.Three, Dance.GOLEM_GALLOP) - Armor stand Four — Wither Wave:
hoc.armorstand_dance(ArmorStand.Four, Dance.WITHER_WAVE)
These calls are examples from the Dance Studio lesson solution, not established as commands that work in every Minecraft Education world. Use them in the context of the supplied lesson and its coding environment. The guide also presents the activity through blocks. Read the official Hour of Code educator guide.

Can your player character dance with an emote?
The official activities described here animate the Agent or armor stands through code. The reviewed official materials do not establish a general player-avatar dance feature or an emote-menu command in Minecraft Education Edition, so these lessons should not be treated as instructions for making your own character dance.
Movement controls and documenting a dance
If you are new to the game, Minecraft Education’s movement tutorial covers walking, jumping, turning, and sprinting. It teaches basic movement rather than choreography. See the official training resources.
