To defeat Callis the Ripper Queen in Borderlands 4, keep moving, watch for floor hazards, and avoid retreating blindly. Destroy her returning fire orbs when you can, dodge her delayed mines and rocket markers, and clear the enemies she summons during the wall phase. This guide covers the first fight, during “Her Flaming Vision” in Carcadia Burn—not the later Moon-Maddened Callis rematch.
How to reach the Callis fight
The encounter takes place in the Moon-Called Throne during the campaign mission “Her Flaming Vision.” Progress through Carcadia Burn until the mission becomes available; this is not the later Callis encounter in “Another Day, Another Universe.”

How to handle Callis’s first health segment
Callis twists, turns, and leaps, so keep her in view without standing still to aim. The main danger is often on the ground: her fire orbs travel outward and return to her, Drone Mines explode after a delay, and bomb-carrying Rippers add pressure. Check the floor as you reposition rather than backing away without looking.

Fire orbs and mines
Mobalytics reports that the ground-traveling orbs can be shot and destroyed. Waves of fire also move outward from Callis and then return, so keep moving and be ready to change direction. Treat mines as delayed hazards: leave their danger area instead of lingering to finish an attack.

Charges, swipes, and rockets
If Callis closes in for a melee charge or swipe, dash or move sideways rather than continuing to retreat in a straight line. When she stops to launch rockets, avoid the marked impact circles. Staying at range can help, but watch for hazards behind you so you do not dodge into another attack.
What changes after her first health segment
Depleting the first health segment triggers a wall phase. Jason Rodriguez’s September 11, 2025 Epic Games Store guide says, “Once you’ve depleted her first health segment, she’ll climb on the wall and create Laser Nets that deal damage and immobilize your character.”

While Callis is attached to the web, Mobalytics describes her as temporarily immune and summoning waves of enemies. Clear those adds to force her down, then resume attacking when she returns. Her later pattern includes a directional web shot from her mechanical stinger and more rockets than before: move laterally to evade the web shot and keep moving out of rocket markers.

Choose damage for the health bar you are hitting
Mobalytics describes Callis’s health bars as armor followed by flesh. Its guide recommends corrosive or radiation damage against armor, then incendiary damage against flesh. It reports up to 175% increased incendiary damage against her flesh on Hard/UVH5; that figure is difficulty-specific, not a universal multiplier for every setting.

There is no established boss-specific weapon ranking in the cited guides. As a practical choice, favor weapons you can control while tracking a fast-moving target, and switch elements when the visible health segment changes.
Use the arena’s resources
Mobalytics reports ammo crates along the arena’s outer edge. The destructible danger orbs can also help with Second Wind revivals, so note their positions before the fight becomes hectic.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Backpedaling without checking the floor: mines, returning fire orbs, and other hazards can catch you while you retreat.
- Staying close to Callis: her erratic movement and melee attacks make distance and lateral movement useful.
- Ignoring summoned enemies: during the wall phase, clear the adds so Callis is forced back down.
- Standing in rocket markers: move out of the marked impact circles instead of trying to finish an attack in place.
