To defeat Quyn the Sparkwielder, reach Lost Company Mine north of Dock Town, trigger the fight by destroying the Blight Cyst, and use fire while avoiding his lightning lanes and the electrified ground they leave behind. The cramped arena rewards careful positioning and timed defense more than constant attacks.
Where to find Quyn and start the fight
- Once exploration in Dock Town is available, travel to Lost Company Mine in the area’s north. Quyn is a Champion associated with the Gate of Lost Ages in the Crossroads.
- Activate the nearby Fen’harel Altar to reveal a slope leading down into the mine.
- Descend and clear the undead. When you are ready to fight Quyn, destroy the Blight Cyst to trigger the encounter.
How to handle Quyn’s attacks
Get clear of the lightning line
Quyn can pound the ground and send thunderbolts along a line. The attack may happen up to three times, and nearby water can become electrified. Move out of the attack’s path, then reposition away from the resulting hazard rather than treating the area as safe once the lightning passes.

Make space for the melee sequence
His melee sequence includes a ground slam followed by a forward arc swipe. Create distance to avoid it, or use a timed Perfect Defense if you are confident in your timing. In the tight arena, leave yourself room to move before committing to attacks.
Attack during openings
Wait until Quyn’s attack has ended and you have safe ground before striking. Electrical hazards can shrink the space available, so overcommitting can leave you with few escape routes. The walkthrough rates Quyn at level 20, but that lower level among Champions does not remove the challenge of fighting in a cramped space.

Choose damage and abilities for the encounter
Gamer Guides reports that Quyn is weak to fire and resistant to necrotic damage. Its advice is to bring Davrin where available and to be cautious about using Lucanis. Treat these as the walkthrough’s matchup recommendations, not as official, patch-confirmed values.
If you need a different setup for a retry, EA says you can change Rook’s and companions’ abilities and respec skill nodes outside combat. The official PlayStation description highlights parries, dodges, companion abilities, and combos as combat tools; use the defensive option that best fits your timing and build.

What defeating Quyn unlocks
Quyn drops the Champion’s Essence. Take it to the Gate of Lost Ages in the Crossroads to unseal the area beyond, which contains further exploration and rewards.
