There are two parts to getting past Mr. X in Resident Evil Requiem: inside the Raccoon Police Department (RPD), keep moving and escape by changing routes; outside, parry his rushes with Leon’s hatchet, stay clear of cars he can throw, and shoot his exposed heart. This encounter contains story spoilers.
Get through the RPD by escaping, not fighting
The RPD sequence is about survival and route choice rather than defeating Mr. X in a stand-up fight. Move upward toward the second floor and avoid getting trapped in a dead end.

When the helicopter tail changes the route, turn back and look for a path to the second-floor balcony. The tail is your cue to retreat and choose another way through, not to keep pushing along the blocked route. The guides describe this progression broadly; they do not establish a room-by-room sequence that applies to every difficulty or version.
Beat Mr. X in the outdoor fight
Parry his rush with Leon’s hatchet
When Mr. X charges, use Leon’s hatchet to parry the rush. Keep the blade maintained so it is ready when you need it. The available guides do not specify a universal parry timing window or an exact durability threshold.

- Grace Ashcroft, an FBI intelligence analyst who is introverted and easily scared, representing a new type of character for the Resident Evil series. Grace will experience horror from the same perspective as the player as she learns to overcome her fears throughout the course of the story.
- For the first time ever in Resident Evil history, players will be able to freely switch between both first- and third-person perspectives throughout the game.
- An Anniversary to Remember: With March 2026 marking the Resident Evil series’ 30-year anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem marks its own milestone in the franchise.
- Pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem are now open, with the bonus of Grace’s costume: Apocalypse. Please note that the picture weapon does not come with the costume, but it can be obtained in-game.
Move away when he approaches a car
Watch Mr. X’s position relative to nearby vehicles. If he climbs onto or gets close to a car, move away immediately: he can throw the vehicle, so staying beside it puts Leon in danger.
Focus shots on the exposed heart
The exposed heart in Mr. X’s chest is his stated weak point. Direct your fire there when it is visible rather than spreading shots across other parts of his body. The guides do not establish a fixed number of hits or a guaranteed damage threshold, so do not rely on a specific shot count.

What the guides establish—and what they don’t
These instructions come from secondary game guides, not an official Capcom walkthrough. They support the escape route cues, hatchet parry, vehicle warning, and exposed-heart target, but do not give verified ammunition counts, phase timings by difficulty, or platform-specific control prompts. Follow the in-game prompts for your platform and avoid assuming that an exact timing or damage threshold is identical across difficulties.
