During the “Mark of the Sniper” scoop in Entrance Plaza, you face Roger, Jack and Thomas Hall, a trio armed with sniper rifles. Focus on Roger first, use cover while closing the distance, then turn to Jack. In Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, defeating Roger and Jack before Thomas can make Thomas surrender—but the available character reference says he will not go to the Security Room with Frank.
Where the Hall family encounter happens
The Hall family appears in Entrance Plaza during the “Mark of the Sniper” scoop. Roger, Jack and Thomas attack with sniper rifles, so staying exposed gives the trio opportunities to shoot. The Escapist’s walkthrough recommends using cover and closing the distance; treat this as guide advice, not a guaranteed safe route.

How to handle Roger and Jack
- Use cover as you approach. Avoid crossing open space or standing still in the trio’s line of fire when you can move between cover.
- Target Roger first. The walkthrough describes him as the strongest shot and recommends taking him out before Jack.
- Turn to Jack next. Keep using cover while you close in rather than relying on a long-range exchange.
Roger drops a sniper rifle when defeated, but the same walkthrough says it is not especially effective against the Hall family. The available guidance does not establish exact damage, a guaranteed route, or a tested weapon ranking, so choose a weapon and approach that suit your current situation.
Decide what to do about Thomas
If you kill Roger and Jack before Thomas in Deluxe Remaster, Thomas reportedly gives up. The Dead Rising Wiki’s Thomas Hall reference says he cannot then be taken to the Security Room. In practical terms, this order lets you spare him, but does not make him an escortable survivor according to that reference. If exact behavior matters to your run, verify it in-game; this is a community-maintained source.

Managing survivors during the fight
Capcom’s PS5 online manual gives general survivor advice: give survivors items and defeat enemies in their vicinity. It also explains that survivors left behind gradually lose health and that goal markers can direct them. These are general mechanics, not specific instructions for the Hall encounter or Wayne’s rescue trigger.
