Prepare during the expedition, not at the boss door
Night Aspect is the Nightlord at the end of an expedition, not a boss you can simply select and fight on its own. You begin at level one. Use the first two days to gain runes and levels, find stronger weapons and useful passive abilities, and build up your healing capacity. The official gameplay guide recommends adapting your route as the Night’s Tide closes the available area: churches can provide additional flask charges, while mines offer smithing stones to improve weapons.
Check the Nightlord’s weakness before setting out
Inspect the Nightlord profile before the expedition and use its displayed weakness to guide your choices. For Night Aspect, pursue a Holy-damage weapon, spell, or other source if the run offers one. Secondary boss references also suggest Fire for the first form and Lightning for the later form; treat those as situational options, not guaranteed damage bonuses or requirements. Loot is variable, so do not discard a strong weapon just to chase a particular drop.

Make the build work with the run you have
There is no mandatory class or weapon established for this fight. Prefer damage sources you can actually use during the openings you create, and keep a ranged option available in a group when possible. Bandai Namco’s general co-op advice notes that ranged attacks can make it safer to revive a fallen teammate.
Fight patiently and adjust for the later form
Approach the encounter as a multi-stage fight. Start by watching the melee attacks, dodging clear commitments, and attacking after an animation leaves the boss open. Avoid trading hits or extending a combo when the opening has ended. The later form is described in secondary boss references as more dangerous, so prioritize survival and keep reassessing your openings as the fight changes.
Use Holy damage when you have a safe chance to connect. Fire may suit the first form and Lightning the later one according to secondary references, but no exact resistance values or named damage statistics are established here. Precise dodge timings and a verified attack-by-attack script are likewise not established, so rely on the boss’s tells rather than a supposed frame-perfect sequence.

Coordinate in co-op and spend useful resources
When playing with others, avoid having everyone commit to damage at once if a teammate needs help. Coordinate who is drawing the Nightlord’s attention, who is attacking, and who can revive. Bandai Namco recommends taking turns holding a Nightlord’s focus when practical, and using support items and ultimate arts when they can help. Its guidance also warns against hoarding useful resources: a defeated team loses unused items.

Defeating Night Aspect is the stated prerequisite for unlocking Deep of Night mode. The boss is also identified as Heolstor in specialist references; the publisher’s material establishes the expedition and general Nightlord preparation, while the more specific phase-element suggestions are secondary guidance.
