This was a Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 Kickstart quest, not a current-season objective. During that season, the reported way to complete “Defend the Outpost from Bug invasions in different matches” was to clear 20 bugs at an active outpost in one match, then do it again in a separate match. Chapter 6 Season 4 ran from August 7 to November 1, 2025 Eastern Time, so the quest and its listed 15,000 XP reward are historical, not currently earnable.
How the outpost bug quest worked
The quest listing set the target at two outpost defenses in different matches. A walkthrough published during Chapter 6 Season 4 describes each defense as eliminating 20 bugs at an active outpost in a single match. It also reports that progress did not carry over between matches and that players had to survive until the clear registered. These mechanics come from a contemporary secondary guide, not a currently available Epic quest entry.
How players completed it during Chapter 6 Season 4
- Find an active outpost. On the Chapter 6 Season 4 map, the walkthrough listed areas northwest of Supernova Academy, north of Canyon Crossing, and north of Outpost Enclave. It said only two locations were active per match and recommended using the bug icon on the map to find one. These are historical locations and markers from that season’s map, not current map directions.
- Clear 20 bugs at the outpost. The guide reported that the objective required 20 bug eliminations in one match. It said smaller bugs could be dealt with using melee attacks and that defeating larger bugs was not required.
- Stay alive until the clear registers. According to the walkthrough, dying before reaching the 20-bug clear meant repeating the attempt.
- Repeat in another match. The quest required defenses in two different matches; the guide said the bug count did not carry between them.
Quest reward and season dates
A 2025 community quest listing records a reward of 15,000 XP for the objective. That was a seasonal reward, not an offer available now. Epic’s official announcement states that Chapter 6 Season 4—and its Shock ‘N Awesome Battle Pass progression period—ran from August 7 to November 1, 2025 Eastern Time. Epic’s live Fortnite news listing has since moved on to later announcements.
What is and is not confirmed
Epic’s season announcement confirms the season dates and context, but the available official material does not establish the exact 20-bug requirement, locations, or account-level status of this quest. Those details are reported by the Destructoid walkthrough and the community quest listing. Reports that invasions were removed or quests auto-completed do not establish that this happened for every player, so no universal account-status claim can be made.
