To restart Pokémon Legends: Arceus on Nintendo Switch, delete its save data in System Settings > Data Management > Delete Save Data. You can erase one user’s save or the game’s saves for all users. Nintendo warns that deleted save data cannot be recovered, so if you want to keep your current run, use another Switch user instead.
Delete your save and start over
- From the Switch HOME Menu, open System Settings.
- Choose Data Management, then Delete Save Data. Enter your Parental Controls PIN if prompted.
- Select Pokémon Legends: Arceus from the list of software.
- Choose the user whose save you want to erase, or choose the option to delete save data for all users.
- Select Delete Save Data and confirm.
Nintendo states: “Once deleted, save data cannot be recovered.” See Nintendo’s save-data deletion instructions. Menu wording can vary with the console’s display language.

Keep your current save and play again
If you want a fresh playthrough without losing your existing progress, leave that user’s save untouched and start the game under another Switch user. The deletion menu distinguishes an individual user’s save from saves for all users; Nintendo explains how Switch save data is associated with users in its Data Management FAQ.

What deleting or uninstalling the game does
- Deleting or archiving the game software does not delete its save data. Redownloading the software leaves progress unaffected.
- The save is stored in the Switch’s system memory, not on the game card or microSD card, and cannot be copied to a microSD card.
- Pokémon Legends: Arceus does not support Save Data Cloud backup. A Nintendo Switch Online cloud save cannot restore progress deleted from this game. Nintendo confirms this on the official Pokémon Legends: Arceus site.
