To deploy a one-click service in Coolify, open a project and environment, choose Create New Resource → one-click Service, select a connected server and network destination, review the copied Docker Compose configuration, enter every required variable, and select Deploy. Then check the deployment output, component health, persistent storage, domain, DNS, and proxy route.

A Coolify one-click service is a ready-made Docker Compose stack taken from Coolify’s maintained service library. Coolify coordinates the Docker deployment, reverse-proxy routing, domains, HTTPS, logs, and lifecycle controls; you still operate the server and remain responsible for DNS, secrets, firewall rules, updates, backups, and the security of anything you expose.

What a Coolify one-click service actually is

A one-click service starts from a Compose template maintained in Coolify’s service library. The template can describe one container or a multi-container stack, including the environment variables, volumes, networks, ports, and dependencies needed by that service. Coolify places that definition into a new resource and uses Docker Compose to create it on your selected server.

The catalog contains more than 280 one-click services according to Coolify’s current website claim, accessed October 15, 2026. That number can change, so the catalog shown in your Coolify instance is the authoritative list for your installation.

The Compose definition belongs to your resource

When you create the service, Coolify copies the selected template into the resource. Later changes in Coolify’s service library do not silently rewrite the Compose definition already saved in your resource. This protects a running deployment from an unexpected catalog change, but it also means that template improvements, security fixes, or new defaults require a deliberate review and update of your stored definition.

Before changing a copied definition, record the current configuration and understand which volumes, ports, variables, and container names your deployment uses. Treat the Compose file as infrastructure configuration rather than as a disposable wizard result.

What you need before clicking Deploy

Coolify access

You can self-host Coolify or use Coolify Cloud. With self-hosting, the official installation guide documents an automated one-command installation and requires root access on the installation server. With Coolify Cloud, the control plane is hosted for you, but you still connect a server where the service containers will run.

In either model, the service workload runs on a server you control or have connected to Coolify. Coolify is an open-source, self-hostable platform for deploying and managing applications, databases, and services on servers you control; it is not a replacement for the underlying server, operating system, or network.

A reachable server

Connect the target server to Coolify and confirm that SSH access and Docker connectivity work. Coolify prepares and validates a connected server, but the operator remains responsible for operating-system updates, firewall policy, DNS, and the server bill. If the connection cannot be validated, solve that problem before creating the service; a one-click template cannot compensate for a host that Coolify cannot reach.

Capacity matched to the workload

There is no universal “one-click service” server size. A small stateless utility and a database-backed multi-container platform have very different CPU, memory, storage, and I/O requirements. DigitalOcean’s 2026 Coolify marketplace documentation lists a Coolify-only minimum of 2 CPU cores, 2 GB of RAM, and 30 GB of storage. That figure describes the platform itself, not a blanket production recommendation for every service. Size the host for the service containers, databases, expected traffic, logs, images, and retained backups in addition to Coolify.

Capacity guidance What it means Qualification
2 CPU cores Listed baseline for Coolify alone DigitalOcean marketplace documentation, 2026; not a production guarantee for a workload
2 GB RAM Listed baseline for Coolify alone DigitalOcean marketplace documentation, 2026; service containers and databases need additional memory
30 GB storage Listed baseline for Coolify alone DigitalOcean marketplace documentation, 2026; account for images, persistent data, logs, and backups
Production sizing Choose from the service’s actual CPU, memory, disk, and traffic profile No single universal value is established

Vultr also documents a Coolify marketplace application and SSH-connected deployment options. These hosting examples show available deployment paths; they are not guarantees that a particular service will fit a particular plan.

Domain, DNS, and secrets plans

Decide which hostname will point to the service and where DNS will be managed. Have the required credentials, encryption keys, administrator passwords, API keys, and other variables ready. Never treat a template’s example value as a production secret. Coolify can coordinate proxy routing and HTTPS after the domain resolves, but you own the domain, DNS records, secret quality, and exposure of every published port.

Service or Application? Pick the correct resource

Use a Service when the software is distributed as a ready-made Coolify service template, a multi-container Compose stack, or a Compose definition you want to store and operate in Coolify. Use an Application when you are deploying source code from a Git repository, building from a Dockerfile, or running an existing image as an application.

Choose Best fit Typical input
One-click Service Ready-made catalog software or a Compose stack Maintained Coolify template, environment variables, volumes, domains, and generated Compose definition
Application Your source code, Dockerfile, or existing image Git repository, build settings, Docker image, or application-specific deployment configuration

If your software arrives as several coordinated containers, a service is usually the natural resource because the Compose definition expresses their networks, dependencies, and storage together. If you are building one project from a repository, an application resource avoids forcing a source-code workflow into a service template.

Step-by-step: deploy a one-click service

  1. Install or open Coolify. For a self-hosted installation, use the official automated one-command installer with the required root access. For Coolify Cloud, sign in to the hosted control plane. In both cases, make sure you can reach the Coolify dashboard before proceeding.
  2. Connect and validate the server. Add the server in Coolify, provide the required SSH details, and wait for the preparation and validation checks to complete. Confirm that Docker is available and that Coolify can communicate with the host. Do not continue while SSH or Docker checks are failing.
  3. Open a project and environment. Select the project in which the service should live, then open the target environment. Keeping production, staging, and development in separate environments prevents an exploratory deployment from being mistaken for a production resource.
  4. Select Create New Resource. From the environment, choose Create New Resource, then select one-click Service. This opens the service catalog rather than the source-code application workflow.
  5. Choose the service template. Select the desired service from the catalog. Coolify copies the maintained Compose template into the new resource. From this point, your resource has its own Compose definition; a later catalog edit will not automatically alter it.
  6. Choose the destination. Select the target server and the network destination offered by Coolify. Verify that this is the host with enough CPU, memory, storage, and network access for the selected workload. A service can be created successfully yet fail at runtime if the host is undersized.
  7. Review the configuration before deployment. Open Configuration → General and inspect the generated settings. Review every environment variable, persistent-storage mapping, domain, exposed port, network, and the generated Compose definition. Fill every variable marked as required. Check that stateful containers write to persistent storage and that no production secret remains an example value.
  8. Select Deploy. Start the deployment and read the deployment output rather than closing the page immediately. The output reveals image pulls, container creation, migrations, failed health checks, permission errors, and dependency failures. Wait for every required component to reach its expected running and healthy state.
  9. Configure and verify the domain. Add the intended domain in the service configuration, create the corresponding DNS record at your DNS provider, and wait for the record to resolve to the server. Confirm that Coolify’s proxy route points to the correct service port. Once DNS and routing are correct, verify HTTPS and test the service from an external connection.

Configuration review before deployment

Environment variables

Required variables are part of the service’s contract. They may define administrator credentials, database connection details, public URLs, encryption keys, storage paths, or feature switches. A missing variable can prevent a container from starting or can leave a stack running without a usable application. Review the variable list in the resource configuration, enter each required value, and redeploy after correcting omissions.

Keep secrets out of public repositories and avoid reusing credentials between unrelated services. Record where each secret is stored and how it will be rotated; Coolify supplies the deployment mechanism, not your organization’s secret-management policy.

Persistent storage

Containers are replaceable. Data that must survive a restart, recreation, image update, or host operation needs a correctly configured persistent volume or bind mount. Check the storage mapping for every stateful component, especially databases, file stores, queues, and services that keep uploaded content. If data disappears after recreation, inspect the storage mapping first: the container may have been writing to its ephemeral filesystem.

Ports, networks, and proxy routing

Compare the service’s internal listening port with the port configured for the Coolify proxy. A container can be healthy while the public endpoint fails if the proxy points to the wrong port or to the wrong component. In a multi-container stack, verify that the externally exposed component can reach its internal dependencies on the Compose network.

Domains and HTTPS

Enter the domain in the service configuration, then create the DNS record that directs the hostname to the server. DNS ownership and propagation remain your responsibility. Coolify can coordinate proxy routing and HTTPS, but it cannot make an incorrect DNS record resolve or secure an endpoint whose credentials and exposed ports are unsafe.

How to verify that deployment succeeded

“Deploy finished” is not the same as “the service works.” Use the deployment output and service logs to verify each layer:

  • Host: the selected server has free CPU, memory, disk space, and network connectivity.
  • Containers: every required container is running, not repeatedly restarting or exiting.
  • Health: configured health checks pass, and dependent components such as databases are ready before the application attempts to use them.
  • Storage: expected volumes are mounted at the paths used by the service, with permissions that allow the container to read and write.
  • Routing: the configured domain resolves to the intended server and the proxy forwards traffic to the correct container port.
  • Application behavior: sign in or perform the service’s basic operation from outside the server, then inspect logs for errors that a simple HTTP response would not reveal.

Check logs immediately after the first deployment and again after a restart or update. Early log inspection gives you a baseline for normal startup messages and makes later failures easier to distinguish from expected warnings.

Troubleshooting an unhealthy or unreachable service

The deployment reports missing required variables

Return to the service resource and open Configuration → General. Fill every required environment variable, verify that values do not contain accidental whitespace or placeholder text, save the configuration, and redeploy. If the service depends on another container, check that its connection variable uses the Compose service name and internal port expected by the copied definition.

Containers start, but the domain is unreachable

Work from the outside in:

  1. Confirm the domain’s DNS record resolves to the connected server’s address.
  2. Confirm the domain is attached to the correct Coolify resource and that the proxy route targets the correct exposed port.
  3. Check that the server firewall allows the traffic needed for the proxy and service.
  4. Inspect container health and logs for a process listening only on localhost, a failed startup, or a dependency that is not ready.
  5. Test the service locally on the host when appropriate, then test again through the domain to isolate an application failure from a routing failure.

The resource is marked unhealthy

Read the deployment output and the logs for each component, not only the front-end container. Look for failed health checks, crash loops, permission errors, unavailable dependencies, and out-of-memory kills. Compare current usage with the server’s available capacity. A service can become unhealthy because the host is exhausted even though its Compose definition is valid.

Data vanishes after recreation

Inspect the persistent-storage configuration for the component that owns the data. A missing or incorrectly located volume causes writes to remain inside the disposable container filesystem. Confirm the mount path matches the path used by the service, then restore from a known backup if the original data is no longer present. Persistent storage improves survival across recreation; it is not a substitute for independent backups.

The catalog template looks outdated

Remember that the template was copied when the resource was created. Review the current catalog entry and your saved Compose definition side by side, then decide deliberately whether to merge changes. Preserve local variables, volume mappings, domains, and any custom security settings while applying only changes you understand. Do not expect opening the catalog to update an existing deployment.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The host runs out of resources

Inspect memory pressure, CPU saturation, disk usage, image layers, and log growth. Reduce unnecessary workloads, increase the server size, or move the service to a host sized for its actual profile. The 2-core, 2-GB-RAM, 30-GB baseline documented by DigitalOcean applies to Coolify alone; it cannot validate a database-heavy or high-traffic production stack.

Operational responsibilities after deployment

Coolify centralizes deployment actions, proxy configuration, logs, and lifecycle controls, but the operator still owns the surrounding operations:

  • Server maintenance: apply operating-system and Docker updates, monitor capacity, and replace compromised or failing hosts.
  • Network security: maintain firewall rules, limit exposed ports, and restrict administrative access.
  • DNS and domain ownership: keep records correct, renew domains, and remove stale routes.
  • Secrets: generate strong credentials, limit access, rotate them when required, and avoid sharing them in logs or repositories.
  • Backups: back up persistent data and test restoration; a volume on the same server does not protect against host loss.
  • Updates: review service-image and template changes, test them in a separate environment when possible, and update the stored Compose definition intentionally.
  • Observability: retain useful logs and monitor health, storage, memory, and response failures rather than waiting for users to report an outage.

A reusable deployment checklist

  • Coolify is installed or the Coolify Cloud account is accessible.
  • The destination server is connected and SSH/Docker validation succeeds.
  • The project and environment are correct.
  • The software is appropriate for a Service rather than an Application resource.
  • The selected host is sized for Coolify plus the service workload.
  • Every required variable has a real, secure value.
  • Persistent volumes are mapped for all stateful components.
  • Ports, networks, and dependencies match the copied Compose definition.
  • The domain is attached to the resource and its DNS record points to the server.
  • Deployment output shows successful creation and health for every required component.
  • The service works through its external domain, including HTTPS where configured.
  • Backups, updates, firewall rules, and monitoring have an owner.

When a one-click service is the right choice

Choose the one-click path when you want a maintained starting Compose definition and a repeatable Coolify-managed deployment for ready-made software or a coordinated stack. It removes much of the manual work around container creation, proxy routing, domains, HTTPS, logs, and lifecycle actions.

Choose an Application instead when your primary artifact is source code, a Dockerfile, or an existing image that does not correspond to a catalog service. In both cases, Coolify automates deployment mechanics; it does not remove the need to understand the workload, protect the server, validate health, preserve data, or maintain the configuration over time.
