To deploy a radio respawn point in Arma Reforger, take a radio backpack from an Ammunition Supply or Equipment Arsenal, carry it to a defensible forward position, drop it, look directly at it, and choose the deploy interaction. Once deployed, squad members can select the radio in the deploy/respawn interface, provided the scenario and server allow that spawn and the radio still has budget available.
Godlike.Host offers hosted Arma Reforger servers with its own game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection, if you would rather not host it yourself.
The radio is not a permanently unlimited checkpoint. Its behavior depends on the scenario’s budget mode, Game Master settings, supplies, and any respawn cooldown. The safest deployment balances distance from the objective with concealment, squad access, and a practical route for resupply.

What a deployed radio does
A deployed radio is a portable forward spawn for your squad. It lets players reinforce an objective without travelling all the way from a main base, but it remains a battlefield asset: enemies may discover it, its spawn budget can run out, and server rules can disable particular spawn or loadout options.
Do not treat every radio-like object as the same system. A backpack radio that you carry and deploy is different from a command truck, a base, or a radio relay station. Those systems have different mobility, range, and connectivity rules.

What you need before deploying
An arsenal and the correct item
Start at an Ammunition Supply or Equipment Arsenal available in the scenario. Open the Equipment Arsenal and equip the radio backpack. The radio occupies the backpack or equipment slot, so check your loadout before leaving. Exact inventory behavior can vary between versions or scenarios; the essential requirement is that you have the radio backpack equipped, not another communications item.
A destination your squad can use
Choose a position close enough to the objective to shorten reinforcement time, but not so obvious that the first enemy patrol can locate it. Look for cover, concealment, and terrain that breaks enemy observation. Also consider how squad members will reach the position on foot and how supplies can be brought to it.

Game Masters and scenario settings can change the radio’s budget and whether spawning with loadouts is allowed. If the deploy action or radio spawn is unavailable, the cause may be configuration rather than a mistake in your procedure.
How to deploy the radio: the complete procedure
1. Reach an Ammunition Supply or Equipment Arsenal
Travel to an arsenal that your scenario provides. The player-facing instructions for this mechanic identify the Equipment Arsenal as the place to equip the radio. If your scenario uses different labels or restricts equipment access, follow its available arsenal interface.
2. Equip the radio backpack
In the arsenal, select the radio and place it in the backpack or equipment slot. Plan the rest of your loadout around that slot: carrying the radio means you may have less room for another item. The available sources establish the radio as an arsenal item but do not document every slot variation for every game version, so do not assume that another backpack configuration will behave identically.
3. Move to a safe, useful forward position
Carry the radio toward the objective, stopping short of an exposed approach. A good location normally has three qualities:

- Concealment: vegetation, structures, folds in the ground, or other features hide the object from casual observation.
- Cover: nearby solid protection gives defenders a chance to survive while using or protecting the point.
- Access: squad members can reach the location quickly, and a resupply route remains possible.
Keep the location away from obvious sightlines and predictable roads when possible. Communicate the position over voice or the map so squad members know where to select their spawn and how to approach it.
4. Drop the radio
Place the radio backpack on the ground at the selected location. It must be a world object before it can be deployed; carrying it in your inventory is not enough.
5. Look at the dropped radio and deploy it
Face the radio and aim your view directly at it. When the interaction prompt appears, choose the option to deploy it. If you are not looking at the object closely enough, the interaction may not appear even though the radio is in the correct place.
6. Confirm that it is available as a spawn
After deployment, squad members open the deploy or respawn interface and look for the deployed radio. The Steam player guide describes the deployed object as a squad spawn point. Availability still depends on the current scenario, server configuration, remaining budget, and any cooldown.

7. Protect and maintain it
Tell the squad where the radio is, assign people to watch likely approaches, and plan how to move supplies toward it. A forward spawn that nobody can find or defend provides little value, especially when an enemy force is close enough to search the area.
How many respawns does a radio have?
There is no single number that applies to every radio. Bohemia Interactive’s 26 June 2024 update documents three Game Master budget types:
Rank #3
- Strategic Arctic Warfare: Master classic Axis & Allies gameplay mechanics with a thrilling G.I. Joe twist as you command forces across frozen terrain and battle for dominance of the Arctic Circle
- Over 100 Detailed Miniatures: Lead Admiral Keel-Haul and Snow Job against Cobra Commander with premium plastic figures representing elite military units in intense combat scenarios
- Three Unique Scenarios: Experience multiple campaigns with different strategic challenges, environmental mechanics like the Weather Dominator, and endless replayability for serious strategy enthusiasts
- Easy to Learn Strategy: Pick up the intuitive ruleset quickly while enjoying deep tactical decision-making that rewards careful planning and competitive gameplay among two to four players
- Immersive Tabletop Experience: Create unforgettable gaming nights with friends and family using beautifully designed components that bring the nostalgic G.I. Joe universe to life on your battlefield
| Budget type | How it behaves | What the player should expect |
|---|---|---|
| Unlimited spawning | The Game Master can configure the radio for unlimited spawn use. | A fixed ticket count is not the limiting factor, although other scenario rules may still apply. |
| Supply usage | Spawns consume supplies associated with the radio and its immediate vicinity. | The point remains useful only while supplies are available; resupply is part of operating it. |
| Limited spawn tickets | The Game Master sets a finite ticket budget. | The radio becomes unavailable when its configured tickets are exhausted. |
The same update says a deployable radio costs 200 supplies and arrives with 100 supplies worth of spawns. Those figures describe the radio’s supply accounting, not a universal promise that every player gets a particular number of lives. The number of actual respawns depends on the scenario’s consumption rules and configuration.
Some scenarios or servers also impose a cooldown after a respawn. If the radio appears in the spawn interface but cannot be selected immediately, wait for the displayed or configured cooldown rather than assuming the radio has been destroyed.
How radio supplies and refilling work
In the 1.2 update, Bohemia Interactive states: “Now, deployable radios can be refilled with supplies and use supplies in their immediate vicinity.” The update also explains that radios cost 200 supplies because they come loaded with 100 supplies worth of spawns.
Practically, this means the radio is tied to logistics. Bring supplies into the radio’s immediate vicinity when the scenario permits it, and refill the deployed object using the available supply interaction. The exact interface can differ by scenario, so use the interaction shown by your server rather than relying on a universal key or menu path.
- Check the radio’s remaining supply or ticket state before committing to a major assault.
- Keep a route open from a supply point or vehicle to the radio.
- Refill before the budget reaches zero when the position is still tactically important.
- If the Game Master selected unlimited spawning, logistics may not be the limiting factor; verify the server’s selected mode.
Where to place a radio for the best result
Close enough to reinforce
Place the radio where a fresh spawn can reach the objective quickly without crossing the entire contested area. Moving it too far behind the line wastes the advantage of a forward point; placing it directly on the objective makes discovery or destruction more likely.
Hidden from routine searches
A radio hidden behind a building, below a ridge, or inside natural cover is harder to spot than one sitting beside a road or at the highest point of terrain. Avoid obvious sightlines and locations that every attacking force would inspect first.
Defensible by the squad
The squad should be able to protect the surrounding area and respond if enemies probe the position. Concealment should not make the radio impossible for friendly players to reach. Mark the location on the map or communicate a clear landmark.
Reachable by resupply
Supply-based budgets turn logistics into part of placement. A beautifully hidden radio that cannot be resupplied may run out during the assault. Before deploying, identify a route for ammunition, vehicles, or other supply sources that your scenario provides.
Radio versus other spawn infrastructure
The following systems should not be confused with a portable radio:
| System | Mobility and role | Rules established in the official guidance |
|---|---|---|
| Deployable radio | Portable squad forward spawn carried from an arsenal. | Can use unlimited, supply-based, or ticket-based budgets depending on Game Master settings; can be refilled when the scenario supports it. |
| Command truck | Mobile spawn infrastructure rather than a backpack item. | Official Boot Camp guidance identifies command trucks as mobile spawn points and says they extend radio range. |
| Base | Base spawn system tied to the game’s radio network. | A base permits spawning only when it can receive the radio signal from the Main Operating Base and transmit back. |
| Radio relay station | Network infrastructure, not a portable squad spawn. | Official Boot Camp material says it increases a base’s radio range from 1,000 meters to 2,000 meters. |
The range figures above apply to the radio relay station’s effect on a base’s radio range. They are not a stated placement radius for a backpack radio, so do not use 1,000 or 2,000 meters as a guaranteed distance for deploying one.

The wrong object is equipped
Return to the arsenal and verify that you selected the radio backpack. A different backpack, radio-related item, or decorative object may not provide the deploy action.
The radio is still in your inventory
The deployment sequence requires dropping the radio first. Put it on the ground, then aim directly at the object and check for the interaction prompt.

Move closer, center your view on the radio, and try again. Looking past the object or at nearby terrain can hide the interaction even when the radio is correctly placed.

The scenario or server changed the rules
Game Master configuration can alter radio behavior, and a server may disable or modify interactions. If the correct item is on the ground and the prompt never appears, ask the server administrator or Game Master whether deployable radios are enabled in that scenario.
Why the radio is missing from the spawn screen
Its budget is empty
In supply-usage mode, the radio may have consumed its available supplies. In limited-ticket mode, its tickets may be exhausted. Refill the radio or its immediate vicinity when allowed, or wait for the Game Master to provide another point.
A cooldown is active
A cooldown can temporarily prevent another spawn even when the radio still has budget. Check the interface for a timer and try again when it expires.
The scenario does not permit that spawn
Spawn options are controlled by scenario and server rules. A radio can be deployed correctly yet be unavailable to a particular player or at a particular moment if the mission restricts that spawn type.

A forward radio is a battlefield object. If enemies locate it, the squad may lose access even though the original deployment was successful. Move future radios farther from obvious approaches and defend the area around them.
Why a custom loadout is unavailable
Bohemia Interactive’s 1.2 update notes that Game Masters can disable spawning with loadouts. If the radio appears as a spawn point but your expected loadout is missing, the restriction may be intentional. It is separate from the radio’s supply budget: refilling the radio will not necessarily restore loadout spawning.
Game Master planning and server configuration
Mission creators should decide how much logistics and attrition they want before placing radios in a scenario. Unlimited spawning supports continuous reinforcement but reduces the effect of supply lines. Supply usage makes the radio a logistics objective, while limited tickets create a finite reinforcement pool that can shape the entire operation.
Document the selected mode for players in the briefing. Explain whether supplies are consumed, whether a cooldown applies, whether loadout spawning is enabled, and where resupply is possible. Clear communication prevents players from treating a supply-limited radio as unlimited or assuming that a missing deploy option is a client-side bug.

A practical radio-respawn checklist
- Find an Ammunition Supply or Equipment Arsenal.
- Equip the radio backpack and verify that it is the intended inventory item.
- Choose a forward location with cover, concealment, squad access, and a resupply route.
- Drop the radio on the ground.
- Look directly at it and select the deploy interaction.
- Tell the squad where it is and confirm that it appears in the deploy/respawn interface.
- Check the scenario’s budget mode, remaining supplies or tickets, and any cooldown.
- Refill the radio or its immediate vicinity when supplies are permitted and the position remains useful.
Key takeaways
- The radio comes from an arsenal and must be dropped before it can be deployed.
- The deploy action appears when you look directly at the dropped radio, assuming the scenario allows it.
- It becomes a squad respawn point, not a universal or permanently unlimited checkpoint.
- Bohemia Interactive documents a 200-supply radio cost and 100 supplies worth of initial spawns.
- Game Master settings can choose unlimited, supply-based, or limited-ticket budgets and can disable spawning with loadouts.
- Good placement balances objective distance, concealment, defense, squad access, and resupply.
