There is no confirmed, game-specific fix list in the reviewed official materials, so treat graphics changes as diagnostic tests—not guaranteed solutions.
Check your PC against the published requirements
Steam lists these minimum and recommended PC specifications for Myth of Empires on its store page and technical issue page. They describe hardware requirements; they do not promise a particular frame rate or smooth frame times.
| Specification | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | 64-bit Windows | 64-bit Windows |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-4430 or AMD FX-6300 | Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 2GB or AMD Radeon R7 370 2GB | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB or AMD Radeon RX 580 4GB |
| DirectX | Version 11 | Version 11 |
| Network | Broadband internet | Broadband internet |
| Storage | 85 GB available space | 85 GB available space |
| Sound | DirectX-compatible sound card with latest drivers | Not stated on Steam’s listing |
The processor and graphics examples are not a promise that every system with those parts will perform identically. Actual performance can vary with resolution, settings, and what is happening in your session. If your PC is below minimum specifications, that is a relevant constraint; if it meets or exceeds recommended specifications, that alone does not identify the cause of a hitch.
Work out what “stuttering” means in your session
Similar-feeling interruptions can point to different problems. Note whether the game is consistently rendering slowly, briefly hitching, freezing, or showing network rubber-banding. Also record whether it happens throughout play or only in a particular situation, such as a crowded base, combat, or one server. Those situations are useful comparisons, not established causes specific to this game.
#1 Best Overall
- 【INTEGRATED SPEAKERS】Whether you're at work or in the midst of an intense gaming session, our built-in speakers provide rich and seamless audio, all while keeping your desk clutter-free.
- 【EASY ON THE EYES】 Protect your eyes and enhance your comfort with Blue-Light Shift technology. This feature reduces harmful blue light emissions from your screen, helping to alleviate eye strain during long hours of use and promoting healthier viewing habits.
- 【WIDEN YOUR PERSPECTIVE】Our sleek minimal bezel design ensures undivided attention. The nearly bezel-free display seamlessly connects in a dual monitor arrangement, delivering an unobstructed view that lets you focus on more at once, completely distraction-free.
- Persistently low frame rate: the image looks slow most of the time.
- Brief frame-time spikes: motion is generally smooth but pauses or jumps momentarily.
- Freezes: the game stops responding or displaying updates for a period.
- Network rubber-banding: characters or objects appear to snap back or update late, which may feel like stutter but is distinct from low rendering performance.
Run a controlled graphics test
Record your CPU, GPU, installed memory, operating system, resolution, and current graphics settings. Then change one setting at a time and compare the same kind of gameplay under similar conditions. Lowering render resolution or demanding quality settings can help test whether graphics load is involved; it is not a verified fix, and the reviewed material does not establish exact in-game menu labels.
- Write down the current resolution and settings before changing anything.
- Choose one demanding graphics setting to reduce, or lower render resolution.
- Repeat the same activity or revisit the same location and compare how it feels.
- If there is no meaningful change, restore the setting and test a different variable rather than changing several things at once.
Decide whether a hardware upgrade is warranted
Consider a GPU upgrade only if your observations and system specifications point to the graphics card as a likely bottleneck. Steam’s recommended examples—GTX 1060 3GB or Radeon RX 580 4GB—are published specifications, not purchase recommendations for a current build. Before choosing any card, check the specific PC’s power supply capacity and connectors, case clearance, motherboard compatibility, and the rest of the system. Likewise, the listed memory requirement is a comparison point, not enough information to recommend a RAM kit without knowing the machine’s memory generation and configuration.

Prepare useful details for support
If the issue continues, Steam’s technical issue page links to official support and community discussions. Include your PC specifications, game version, where and when the problem occurs, whether it resembles low FPS, hitching, freezing, or network lag, and the steps you have already tried. This gives support a clearer description than “the game stutters.”
Keep game-specific patch claims tied to the correct title: the official Steam news feed for Myth of Empires: Throne covers a separate game, so its 2026 maintenance notes do not establish a fix for the original Myth of Empires. The official game site publishes news, but the reviewed materials did not establish a specific performance fix.
