EA’s official workaround is to connect the controller, open Steam > Settings > Controller, and turn Game Rumble off. If you own the Steam version and want a Battlefield 6-specific workaround, force Steam Input for the game instead.
The fastest fix: turn off Game Rumble in Steam
- Connect your DualSense to the PC.
- Open Steam and select Steam > Settings > Controller.
- Set Game Rumble to Off.
- Launch Battlefield 6 and test the L2 and R2 triggers.
This is the procedure documented by EA’s Battlefield 6 PC controller guide. However, it is a broad Steam controller setting, not a Battlefield 6-only toggle. EA also warns that it can affect haptic triggers in other games using that controller configuration.

What you are actually disabling
- Adaptive triggers: Variable resistance in L2 and R2.
- Haptic feedback: More advanced vibration effects.
- Game rumble: The broader vibration option exposed by Steam.
That distinction matters. Turning off Game Rumble may remove ordinary controller vibration as well as trigger resistance. The available official instructions do not establish a reliable, game-specific setting that disables only adaptive resistance while preserving every other rumble effect.

Sony treats adaptive triggers and haptic feedback as separate DualSense features. You can read the hardware details in Sony’s DualSense support documentation.
#1 Best Overall
- Haptic feedback - Feel physically responsive feedback to your in-game actions with dual actuators which replace traditional rumble motors. In your hands, these dynamic vibrations can simulate the feeling of everything from environments to the recoil of different weapons. .Operating temperature : 41 °F to 95 °F (5 °C to 35 °C)
- Adaptive triggers - Experience varying levels of force and tension as you interact with your in-game gear and environments. From pulling back an increasingly tight bowstring to hitting the brakes on a speeding car, feel physically connected to your on-screen actions.
- Built-in microphone and headset jack - Chat with friends online using the built-in microphone or by connecting a headset to the 3.5mm jack. Easily switch voice capture on and off at a moment’s notice with the dedicated mute button. Internet and account for PlayStation Network required.
- DualSense Controller PS5 and PC compatible. Not compatible with PS4.
- PS Remote Play requires Remote Play App connected to Wi-Fi, PS4 or PS5 console with the latest system software and compatible game. A PS4 or PS5 console with a wired connection via a LAN cable is recommended. Version 4.0 of the Remote Play App on iOS and iPadOS or version 4.1 on macOS is required for games to be playable with the controller over Bluetooth.
Steam-only workaround: force Steam Input for Battlefield 6
Steam users can try a more targeted workaround that changes how Battlefield 6 receives controller input:
- Open your Steam Library.
- Right-click Battlefield 6 and choose Properties.
- Open the Controller tab.
- Set the per-game override to Enable Steam Input.
- Close the window and restart Battlefield 6.
Depending on the Steam client version, the option may be labelled Use Steam Input or use slightly different wording. Look for the per-game controller override.

Steam Input acts as a translation layer between the controller and the game. Community reports and secondary coverage indicate that forcing it can prevent Battlefield 6 from receiving native DualSense adaptive-trigger commands. This is a practical Steam configuration, not the primary procedure in EA’s official guide.

- Detect the controller as a standard or Xbox-style device.
- Show Xbox-style prompts instead of PlayStation symbols.
- Stop exposing native adaptive triggers and advanced DualSense haptics.
- Use different mappings or controller behavior.
Those effects are not guaranteed for every setup. They can depend on the Steam client, connection method, controller configuration, and the game’s current input handling. Steam describes this translation approach in its Steam Input documentation.
Steam version versus EA App version
Steam version
The Steam version has a per-game controller override, making Enable Steam Input the most practical game-specific workaround reported for this issue. If it causes problems, you can revert the override without changing the setting for every game.
Rank #4
- Bring gaming worlds to life - Feel your in-game actions and environment simulated through haptic feedback*. Experience varying force and tension at your fingertips with adaptive triggers*.
- Find your voice, share your passion - Chat online with the built-in microphone. Connect a headset directly via the 3.5mm jack. Record and broadcast your epic gaming moments with the create button.

EA App version
EA’s official guide does not document an equivalent per-game EA App switch. Its documented route remains the Steam controller setting, which is less straightforward when Battlefield 6 is launched directly through the EA App.
You may find suggestions to add the EA App game or a shortcut to Steam and then apply Steam Input. Treat that as an unofficial workaround rather than an EA-supported configuration, and do not assume it works with every EA App installation.
Best Value
- Feel physically responsive feedback to your in-game actions through haptic feedback
- Experience varying levels of force and tension at your fingertips with adaptive triggers
- Chat online through the built-in microphone and connect a headset directly through the 3.5mm jack
- Switch voice capture on and off using the dedicated mute button
- Play on more devices using the USB Type-C cable or Bluetooth to connect easily to Windows PC and Mac computers, Android and iOS mobile phones as well as your PlayStation 5
If the triggers are still stiff
- Exit Battlefield 6 completely.
- Disconnect and reconnect the DualSense.
- Confirm that Steam detects the controller.
- Apply the Battlefield 6 per-game Enable Steam Input override, if you use the Steam version.
- Restart Steam if the override does not take effect.
- Test with the controller connected by USB.
- Update the controller firmware with Sony’s PlayStation Accessories app for Windows.
- Temporarily close other controller-remapping software.
- Test the controller in another game or outside Battlefield 6 to determine whether the resistance is software-driven or physical.
DualSense supports USB and Bluetooth on Windows. Sony notes that haptic feedback on PC may require USB depending on the game, so USB is the best troubleshooting baseline because it removes Bluetooth pairing, battery, and feature-support variables. See Sony’s Bluetooth pairing guide.
If Steam Input stops the controller working
- Close Battlefield 6.
- Return to Battlefield 6 > Properties > Controller in Steam.
- Change the override to Use Default Setting or Disable Steam Input.
- Restart the game.
- If necessary, restart Steam and reconnect the controller.
Avoid running multiple remappers at once. Community reports mention compatibility and EA Anti-Cheat concerns involving tools such as DS4Windows, but those reports are not an official EA compatibility statement. Use third-party remappers only as a last-resort troubleshooting experiment, not as the default fix.
How to restore adaptive triggers
To return to native DualSense behavior:
- Set Battlefield 6’s Steam Input override to Use Default Setting or Disable Steam Input.
- Turn Game Rumble back on under Steam > Settings > Controller.
- Reconnect the DualSense.
- Restart Battlefield 6.
DualSense Edge note
The DualSense Edge has more flexible PC profiles through PlayStation Accessories, including trigger-effect intensity controls. That gives Edge owners more hardware-level configuration options than the standard DualSense. The available documentation does not establish that an Edge profile will override Battlefield 6’s native PC behavior in every launch configuration, so it should not be treated as a guaranteed game-specific solution.
The Bottom Line
For EA’s officially documented fix, turn off Game Rumble in Steam. For the Steam edition, forcing Enable Steam Input is the more targeted workaround, but it may change prompts, mappings, rumble, and native DualSense features.
