How to play SUPERHOT free in your browser
- Go to the official SUPERHOT Prototype page.
- Find the Play Prototype control.
- Open it on a Windows, macOS, or Linux desktop or laptop.
- Start the browser game and experiment with moving, aiming, dodging, and using weapons.
The official page describes the prototype as a desktop experience. Do not assume that it will work on mobile browsers, and do not download an executable from a site claiming to offer the “free full game.”

What makes SUPERHOT different?
SUPERHOT is a first-person shooter built around an unusual tactical rule: time moves only when you move. Standing still gives you a moment to assess incoming bullets, enemy positions, and nearby weapons. Moving, aiming, throwing, and attacking then becomes a deliberate choice rather than a constant twitch reaction.

That turns firefights into a mixture of shooting and puzzle-solving. You may need to decide whether to step out of the way of a bullet, grab a weapon, throw an object, or wait for a better opportunity. The official game describes slow-motion bullets, enemy weapons, and encounters in which you are heavily outnumbered. See the official SUPERHOT site for the game’s description.
Is the browser version the full game?
No. The free browser experience is the original SUPERHOT Prototype, created during the 7 Day First Person Shooter game jam in August 2013. It is the early ancestor of the commercial release, not a free version of the 2016 game.
Expect a smaller, older game-jam project with fewer levels, systems, weapons, and presentation features than the polished retail release. The official SUPERHOT story page and press kit document the prototype’s origins and distinguish it from the later games.

The expanded game was released in February 2016. Its official page lists a campaign, challenge mode, endless mode, replay editing, and additional extras. Visit the official SUPERHOT purchase page or the Steam listing for current platform and pricing information.
SUPERHOT, SUPERHOT VR, and MIND CONTROL DELETE are different games
The similar names can make the free prototype confusing:
- SUPERHOT Prototype: the free 2013 browser version.
- SUPERHOT: the expanded paid game released in 2016.
- SUPERHOT VR: a separate VR title with different levels, plot, mechanics, and weapons. It is not included with the browser prototype; the official FAQ explains the distinction.
- SUPERHOT: MIND CONTROL DELETE: a separate, larger follow-up with a different, more replay-oriented roguelike structure.

Does it work on mobile?
The official prototype page says it is only possible to play the prototype on desktop. Use a desktop or laptop with a current desktop browser, keyboard, and mouse. Mobile and tablet support should not be promised, and the prototype should not be treated as a VR-compatible version.
What if Play Prototype does not work?
The developer’s page confirms the desktop limitation, but it does not provide a current browser-by-browser support list. The following are general browser troubleshooting steps, not guaranteed official support:
- Confirm that you are using a desktop or laptop.
- Reload the official prototype page in a current major desktop browser.
- Temporarily disable aggressive script-blocking or content-blocking extensions for that page.
- Reload after allowing the scripts the game requires.
- Try another desktop browser if the game area remains blank.
- Check whether your browser is blocking an embedded game frame or WebGL content.
Browser compatibility and availability can change over time. If the official prototype is temporarily unavailable, do not use an unofficial mirror or install a suspicious “free full game” download as a workaround.

Does the prototype save progress?
Do not assume that the browser prototype provides persistent saves, checkpoints, achievements, or cloud progress. The available official information does not establish its current save behavior, so treat it as a short browser experience and avoid closing the tab if you want to continue immediately.
Should you buy the full game?
Play the prototype if you want to sample the defining mechanic immediately, avoid an installation, or see how the project began. Buy the full SUPERHOT if the concept clicks and you want the substantially larger campaign, challenge and endless modes, replay tools, and polished commercial release.

Is the free prototype legitimate?
Yes. The safest route is the prototype page on the official SUPERHOT website. A free official prototype does not make the paid commercial releases free to download. Avoid cracked copies, repacked installers, suspicious browser extensions, and ad-heavy mirror sites.
