Replays are temporary: Riot says they are deleted after 21 days and are available only during the match’s patch cycle.
Download a replay from your match
- After a match, look for Download in the upper-left of the post-match screen. If you have left that screen, open Career and select Match History.
- Find the match and select Download.
- When the download is ready, the button changes to Play. Select it to watch the replay in VALORANT.
These steps follow Riot Games Support’s replay instructions. The support page is in Polish; the steps here summarize its instructions in English.
What “download” means
The replay is stored locally, but it is not a standard video file you can open in a media player or another game client. Riot says replays can only be viewed in VALORANT, not on another platform. The official instructions do not describe a supported way to send the replay file to someone for playback elsewhere.
Watch a friend’s match
Riot’s support instructions say you can download and watch a friend’s replay through that friend’s profile and Match History, provided the match is still available. Your friend does not need to send you a replay file; access it through the client.

Why a replay may no longer be available
- It is more than 21 days old. Riot says replay files are deleted after 21 days.
- The game has moved on from the match’s patch cycle. Riot says replays are available only during the patch cycle in which the match was played, so a game update can make an older replay unavailable or incompatible.
These availability limits are described by Riot Games Support. The support page’s statements about Custom games conflict: its eligible-mode list mentions some Custom matches, but another section says Custom games do not support replays. Check Riot’s current guidance rather than assuming a Custom match can be replayed.
Replay controls and viewing limitations
Riot’s replay overview describes several ways to review a match: switch among first-person views for all ten players, use a third-person free observer camera, pause or change playback speed, select a round, jump to a point in time, and show or hide the minimap and HUD.

There are also limits to what the replay represents. Enemy information may remain visible on the minimap even when player outlines are hidden, and some ability minimaps and placement previews are not shown during deployment. See Riot’s replay overview for the feature details.
