Download the original Koikatsu character-card PNG, then copy it into the matching character folder in Koikatsu Party. The image itself contains the character data, so a screenshot or processed preview will not work as a card. Make sure the file is tagged for Koikatsu, not another Illusion game.
Choose a Koikatsu card source
You can use an in-game downloader if one is available to you, or get a card from a community-hosted page. Community sources can change or disappear, and there is no established authoritative list of currently available repositories. Before downloading, check that the card is specifically for Koikatsu and that the page offers the original PNG rather than only a preview.

Koikatsu cards are not just pictures: the PNG stores character data the game can read. Download the original file, and avoid screenshots, resized images, or recompressed copies because processing may strip that embedded data.
Install a character card in Koikatsu Party
- Download the original PNG card file.
- Open your Koikatsu Party installation folder, then navigate to
UserDatacharafemalefor a female character orUserDatacharamalefor a male character. - Copy the PNG into the folder that matches the character.
- Open the character creator and check the saved-card list for the character.
Check whether the card needs mods
A card that uses modded clothing, hair, or other assets may load without looking as its creator intended if those assets are missing. HF Patch is a collection of commonly used plugins and mods that can help with many cards, but it is not required for every unmodded card and does not include every mod a particular card might need. Check the card’s own requirements and install compatible Koikatsu resources as needed. The HF Patch maintainers also clarify that the patch does not include the full game, paid expansions, or pirated game content: HF Patch repository.

Character cards and Studio scenes are different
This procedure is for character cards used in the character creator. Studio scene cards are a separate kind of content with different support requirements. A Steam community guide says Studio is not natively supported in the Steam release and requires a fan patch; that limitation should not be confused with ordinary character-card support: Steam community guide.

Troubleshoot a card that is missing or looks wrong
- The card does not appear: Confirm that it is in the correct
femaleormalefolder, and verify that the file is the original PNG rather than a preview or screenshot. - The file appears to be an image but is not recognized: Check that it is a Koikatsu card. Cards for other Illusion titles are not interchangeable just because they look similar.
- The character loads with missing items: Look for the card’s mod requirements and install the required compatible assets. A general patch collection may not cover every dependency.
