Admit him to the survivor block, then confiscate four zombie body parts found in survivors’ baggage at the checkpoint. Each costs $100. Once the counter reaches four, speak to Stuart, survive the outbreak that follows overnight, and loot his tent for the reported $500 reward and a severed-head collectible.
1. Reach day 20 and admit Stuart
Stuart arrives at the checkpoint on campaign day 20 carrying a severed zombie head and explaining that it is part of an experiment. Admit him to the survivor block; sending him to liquidation prevents the quest from proceeding.

2. Keep Stuart alive at camp
Do not evacuate Stuart before completing the quest. Keep the survivor camp stable and manage starvation, overcrowding, sickness, and zombie threats. In particular, prevent infected survivors from triggering an outbreak that could kill Stuart before you can speak to him.
3. Search survivor baggage for four body parts
The required parts appear among the possessions survivors bring through the checkpoint. Which baggage contains a part is chance-based, so you may need to process survivors over several in-game days. Parts taken from bodies in liquidation or the laboratory do not count.

When a part appears in the possessions table, confiscate it before finishing that survivor’s processing. Guides report a cost of $100 per confiscated part, or $400 for all four. Keep sufficient camp funds available: going into the red can cause a game over.
Stuart already arrives with a severed head, but the guides describe gathering four parts from survivor baggage after admitting him. They do not clearly establish whether confiscating his original head advances the counter, so do not rely on it counting.
4. Talk to Stuart, then handle the outbreak
When the quest counter reaches four, talk to Stuart. His experiment plays out overnight; the following morning, an alarm signals that zombies have broken loose in the survivor camp. Return to the camp and kill the zombies with the weapons available to you.
5. Loot Stuart’s tent
After clearing the outbreak, search Stuart’s tent. The guides report that it contains $500 and a severed-head collectible in a black case. The $500 reward is $100 more than the four confiscation fees, before accounting for any other costs or consequences.

If Stuart dies before you can talk to him
A Steam Community player reported that Stuart died after becoming infected while the objective still said to talk to him. That is an anecdotal report, not evidence that the problem is widespread or reliably reproducible. The practical safeguard is to keep Stuart alive and at camp until the post-collection conversation is complete.
