How to Download Tooth and Tail for Ubuntu

Get Tooth and Tail through its official Steam listing. Steam lists Linux support and Ubuntu 12.04 minimums, but those old requirements do not confirm compatibility with current Ubuntu releases.

To get Tooth and Tail for Ubuntu, use its official Steam store page. Steam lists the game for SteamOS + Linux and gives Ubuntu 12.04 (64-bit) as its minimum operating system. That is an old requirement, not confirmation that the game works on a current Ubuntu release.

Where to get Tooth and Tail for Ubuntu

Open the official Steam listing to check current availability and purchase options. Steam identifies Pocketwatch Games as the developer and publisher and lists the release date as September 12, 2017. Price and sale status can change, so check the live page.

The developer’s itch.io page says a purchase comes with a Steam key, but it currently says, “Nothing is available for download yet.” It is therefore not a source for a direct itch.io game download.

Linux system requirements listed on Steam

Steam publishes these minimum requirements for Linux. They are the store’s listed specifications, not a compatibility guarantee for recent Ubuntu versions.

Because Ubuntu 12.04 is an older release, the published minimum alone does not establish whether the game will run on a particular current Ubuntu installation. The reviewed official pages do not confirm compatibility with a modern Ubuntu version, and no installation test is established here.

What kind of game is it?

Tooth and Tail is a compact real-time strategy game. Its premise centers on animal factions fighting a civil war over food, with a darkly humorous tone. Steam lists single-player, online competitive play, split-screen play and replays; it also advertises procedurally generated maps and customizable factions.

Steam describes matches as lasting 5–12 minutes and says the controls were designed specifically for gamepad. Split-screen couch play is supported, so a controller may suit local play, but Steam does not list one as a requirement.
