How the reported duplication glitch works
The method described in a May 2025 guide involves moving an item between your inventory and a container while timing the interaction. Its instructions distinguish PC controls from console controls, so do not assume one button sequence applies to both. The source material does not establish a reliable, universal step-by-step sequence to reproduce across versions. Follow the guide’s instructions for your own control scheme rather than substituting inputs from the original Oblivion. Community discussion also describes inventory/container transfers, but reports vary on which items work and whether the timing succeeds: Steam Community discussion.
What to check before trying it
- Save manually first. Treat the glitch as an experiment and preserve a point you can return to.
- Use the instructions for your controls. The cited guide separates PC from console; keyboard and controller inputs should not be treated as interchangeable.
- Expect item-by-item variation. Players have reported failures and differing compatibility, but those reports are anecdotes, not controlled testing.
- Do not rely on old-game instructions. The evidence here concerns a remaster inventory/container interaction; it does not establish that the original game’s arrow or scroll duplication method transfers unchanged.
Does the duplication glitch still work?
There is no official confirmation in the reviewed sources that the glitch is currently active or patched. Bethesda’s Update 1.2 notes, published July 16, 2025, list gameplay, interface, crash, and performance fixes without mentioning item duplication. Bethesda lists Oblivion Remastered for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch 2. The May 2025 guide predates the Switch 2 release, so it does not establish that the method works there. Nor do the cited reports verify a common sequence across current versions on PC, PS5, or Xbox.

Bethesda says Update 1.2 rolled out across all platforms on July 16, 2025. The official game page records Switch 2 patches dated August 11 and September 17, 2026, without stating whether they affect this glitch. A patch-note omission is not a compatibility test, so check your own version rather than treating an older guide or discussion as a guarantee.
