What Coins and SBC fodder mean
Coins are Ultimate Team’s spendable currency. “Fodder” is a community term for player Items you may be willing and eligible to submit to a Squad Building Challenge (SBC). A player Item is not automatically tradeable, eligible for every SBC, or safe to discard: check its status and the specific challenge conditions.
Earn Coins through play and fair-price sales
EA Help says: “You can earn Coins in FC Ultimate Team™ by playing matches or selling Items on the Transfer Market, but you can’t purchase Coins.” The legitimate routes below can also earn other useful rewards, but no official source establishes a universal Coins-per-hour rate across modes.
Play matches and complete current Objectives
Start with activities you can fit into your schedule: play eligible matches, claim rewards, and complete current Objectives. EA’s FC 27 Foundation Objectives introduce Ultimate Team activities and award Player Items, Packs, and Coins. Check the live Objectives screen for available tasks and rewards because these rotate.

EA’s FC 27 launch update says match Coins are increasing in Rivals, Champions, and Squad Battles, and that a greater share of rewards across modes and Objectives will be tradeable. Its comparison point is roughly 500 to 600 FUT Coins typically earned from a match in EA SPORTS FC 26; that is an FC 26 baseline, not a guaranteed FC 27 match payout. FC 27 amounts are described comparatively, so check the in-game reward screens rather than planning around a fixed figure.
Choose a mode that suits your time and play style

These are different routes, not a verified efficiency ranking. EA does not publish a common Coins-per-hour comparison for them. Champions Qualification Points can come from Rivals or Squad Battles; check the current in-game event for qualification rules and reward details.

Understand Squad Battles’ weekly limit
Squad Battles uses a weekly competitive score for rank. After completing the weekly competition matches, additional matches do not add to that week’s Battle Points score, so they cannot raise that weekly rank. They can still earn Coins and Objective progress. Your rank may also shift as other players earn Battle Points during the week.
Sell tradeable Items you do not need
Check whether an Item is tradeable before listing it. If you do not need it, set a fair price based on current market listings and demand. Prices fluctuate, and EA sets minimum and maximum listing prices. Do not inflate or underprice a listing to transfer Coins: price manipulation and Coin transfers violate EA’s rules.

Build SBC fodder before spending Coins
Check your Club and SBC Storage first
Look through your Club for player Items that meet the SBC’s actual rating, league, nation, chemistry, or other stated conditions. SBC Storage holds duplicate untradeable player Items; check it before opening more packs or buying players. A duplicate or untradeable Item may still have value in a challenge, but only if it is eligible and you are willing to commit it.
Use earned rewards selectively
Player Items from packs, Objectives, and mode rewards can become fodder when they fit a challenge. Compare each Item’s usefulness to your squad and other plans against the SBC reward. Do not assume that a pack or reward will produce a particular rating, tradeability status, or amount of fodder.

Check an SBC before buying or submitting
- Read the challenge requirements. Confirm the squad conditions, any multi-part requirements, and the expiry time shown in-game.
- Inspect your Club and SBC Storage. Identify eligible Items you already own, and note whether they are tradeable, untradeable, duplicates, or useful elsewhere.
- Review the reward. Decide whether it is worth the Coins or Items for your goals; do not treat a reward as guaranteed profit.
- Buy only what is missing. Check current market prices and avoid spending on players until you know they fit the challenge.
- Review the final squad before submission. EA says submitted Items are permanently removed. Confirm that every Item is eligible and that you accept losing it.
EA’s FC 27 launch materials describe Streamlined SBCs, which let eligible Items contribute toward a target score across multiple submissions. That does not remove the commitment risk: check the live challenge’s terms and reward before each submission.
Keep the numbers and rewards straight
EA’s FC 27 launch update also says eligible matches can award between 15 and 100 Season Points depending on result and mode, up to 850 Season Points per day. These are Season Points, not Coins. Coins, Season Points, Packs, Player Items, and Champions Tokens are distinct rewards; check the relevant in-game screen to see what you actually earned.

EA prohibits buying Coins from third parties, sending Coins to another player, and manipulating Item prices to move Coins. EA warns that violations can lead to penalties including Coin removal, leaderboard removal, or Club deletion. Stick to match rewards and fair-price sales of tradeable Items.
