Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteStart with the CD’s booklet and packaging, then use MusicBrainz Picard to look up the disc’s table of contents (TOC). A TOC match can point you to a track list, but check the release details against your physical copy before tagging or renaming files. If the CD is unavailable or no matching release appears, use a manual search or a file-based lookup and verify the result.
Start with the CD and its packaging
Check the booklet, back cover, tray card, and any inserts. They may list the soundtrack title, track names and numbering, composer or artist credits, label, catalog number, barcode, country, and edition. For a multi-disc set, keep each disc’s track list and order separate.

If the printed track list is readable, it is the most direct way to identify the titles. The database steps below are useful when the packaging is missing, incomplete, in a language you cannot read, or when you also want to tag a rip accurately.
Look up the CD by its table of contents
If you have the disc, use an optical drive that can read audio CDs and open MusicBrainz Picard’s CD lookup. Picard reads the disc’s TOC—the track layout and frame offsets—and offers releases with matching layouts. MusicBrainz calls the resulting identifier a Disc ID, which links a physical CD to a release listing: MusicBrainz Disc ID documentation.

A matching Disc ID is a candidate, not proof that the listing describes your exact commercial edition. Different pressings can have different Disc IDs, and different discs can sometimes share one. The ID is based on track frame offsets, so use it to find likely listings rather than as a unique edition identifier.
Verify the exact release before applying track names
Compare the candidate listing with the disc and its packaging. Check several identifiers together rather than relying on the game or soundtrack title alone.

MusicBrainz Picard’s guidance is explicit: “Before proceeding, please check to ensure that the release you select properly matches your CD (e.g.: release country, date and label, catalog number, barcode, media type, and cover art).” See the Picard CD workflow.
Once you select a release, check that each listed track is associated with the correct file. Review the metadata before saving; do not assume a plausible album match means the file-to-track mapping is correct. If Picard finds no correct match
Search manually using the game and soundtrack or release title, credited composer or artist, label, and catalog number. Compare any result with the physical disc and packaging; a title match alone may point to a different edition or release.
If the disc is not listed, MusicBrainz provides a process for adding a Disc ID and connecting it to the correct release. Its guide to adding Disc IDs explains how to identify and submit an unmatched disc, including track-time notes. If the release itself is absent, document the printed track list and edition identifiers so the release can be added with the relevant Disc ID.

If you only have ripped files
Picard offers different lookup routes depending on how the audio files are arranged. For files grouped as an album, try a cluster lookup. For files that are not grouped, scan their acoustic fingerprints with AcoustID. These methods can suggest a release, but you should still verify the edition and inspect which track name is assigned to each file. See Picard’s album-information lookup documentation.

A MusicBrainz record for the Japanese Sega Saturn release of The House of the Dead identifies a mixed-mode CD dated 1998-03-26, catalog number GS-9173. Its listing includes tracks such as “The House Of The Dead (Advertise),” “Into The Dark (Stage 1 BGM),” and “Name Entry.” This is one database record, not a guarantee that every soundtrack CD has the same format or level of detail: MusicBrainz release record.
