For upgrades, gather ship materials from the sources that currently offer the material you need, and consider guild shops and crafting as additional routes. Choose what to build or improve around the ship’s role and the waters it must cross—not a supposed universally best ship or income route.
Earn Ducats by trading between ports
Ducats are the everyday currency used for basic transactions such as building ships and buying ship parts. The official Uncharted Waters Origin Game Guide recommends buying goods where prices are low and selling them at a port where they command a higher price. It calls trade “the quickest, and surest way to earn Ducats,” but does not give a guaranteed route, profit rate, hourly income, or minimum starting capital.
- Check the goods and prices available at the port where you are buying.
- Buy goods at a price that leaves room for a profit after the trip.
- At another port, compare local prices and sell where the goods are worth more.
- Use the proceeds to fund shipbuilding, parts, or other basic transactions.
Prices and trade opportunities can vary, so treat this as a buy-low, sell-high loop rather than a fixed route. Ducats are also distinct from Blue Gems, Red Gems, and Guild Currency: the ship guide assigns Blue Gems to modification, while the building guide describes Red Gems or Shipbuilding Acceleration as ways to shorten construction time.
Build ships to raise Build LV and unlock blueprints
Shipbuilding serves two purposes: it produces ships and advances Build LV. As Build LV rises, additional blueprints unlock. A blueprint and the materials for a ship are separate requirements, alongside Ducats; higher-grade ships call for rarer materials. The official How to Use Ships guide explains construction and its costs.

Construction takes time. The guide says it can be expedited with Shipbuilding Acceleration or Red Gems. Check the selected ship and the resources committed before starting: canceling a ship in progress does not refund its materials or Ducats.
Find the ship materials a build actually requires
Material availability depends on the item and the current game state. Official ship guides list several source categories, but do not promise that every material can be obtained from every activity.
Rank #2
- Shipyard Parts Shop: Check shop stock for available ship materials.
- Combat: Materials may appear as combat loot; the guides also identify combat against a powerful opponent as a source for certain crafting materials.
- Daily Tasks, Adventure, and Tasks: These activities may provide materials through their rewards.
- Events and Palace rewards: The guides list these as possible sources, not guaranteed or permanent availability.
- Black Market: The Item Shop’s Black Market may occasionally offer rare materials.
- Dismantling ships: The Shipyard guide says unwanted ships can be dismantled for spare materials. It does not specify yields or establish that dismantling is always an efficient exchange.
For a specific ship, check its material requirements against current shop stock and the rewards available to you before committing Ducats or beginning construction.
Use guild systems as an additional resource route
Guild participation adds a separate path to blueprints, materials, and ship parts. The official guild systems guide describes Guild Currency earned at Guild Contribution thresholds. That currency can be spent in the Contribution Shop on blueprints and crafting materials; purchases have limits, and the shop list refreshes weekly. Check the in-game shop for its current stock and limits.

Documented ways to earn contribution include city investment, requests, and combining equipment or parts. Exact point limits and requirements are shown in the in-game guide and may change.
Guild Crafting can produce ship parts, mate gear, and tools. It requires request letters and essential materials such as processed iron, processed lumber, and ore. The guide says these materials may be bought in the Contribution Shop, received as Palace rewards, or obtained through combat against a powerful opponent. Guild systems are an additional route, not a prerequisite for every player.

Choose ships and upgrades for their role and route
Ships specialize in Adventure, Trade, or Combat. The official ship guide describes their broad strengths:
| Ship specialization | Strength described in the guide | Useful consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Adventure | Tends to be faster than same-grade alternatives. | Consider speed and the navigation stats required for the intended route. |
| Trade | Has higher load capacity. | Consider how much cargo the ship needs to carry. |
| Combat | Can carry more crew and has strong artillery and ramming capabilities. | Consider crew capacity and combat needs. |
Some waters require navigation stats such as Ice Breaking, Seaworthiness, and Momentum. Before spending materials on a ship, weigh its role against the route’s required stats, its blueprint availability, and its material cost. The guides do not establish one specialization or ship as best for every fleet.

Distinguish modification from equipping parts
Modify and Parts are different upgrade systems. Modification raises three randomly selected base stats and consumes the ship’s Blueprint or a Common Blueprint plus Blue Gems. The official Basic Growth Guide: Ship Details says a ship can be modified at most five times and that costs vary by ship.
Equipping Parts improves ship base stats through equipment. Modification is a resource-consuming, randomized stat upgrade; choosing Parts is an equipment decision. Check which stats matter for the ship’s job before deciding how to spend the relevant resources.
Check current opportunities before spending
Time-limited events and trade goods can change opportunities. A LINE Games announcement dated September 26, 2025 confirms that seasonal events and trade goods can affect them, but it does not establish which event or bonus is live now. Check current in-game event notices, trade prices, and shop stock—including the weekly-refreshing Contribution Shop—rather than planning around an assumed bonus.
