If the Sim is only saved in My Library, place that household in your save first; EA’s Gallery instructions describe placing and merging a household, not editing an unplaced Library copy.
Edit a Sim in an existing household
- Load the save and open Manage Worlds.
- Choose Manage Households and locate the household containing the Sim.
- Select the household, then choose the pencil or Edit in CAS control to open Create a Sim. Make your changes and confirm them in CAS.
This household-management route is described in EA Forums guidance and a related discussion; it is community guidance rather than a current official walkthrough. Labels and controls may vary with game updates or platform.

Edit a Sim while playing
Electronic Arts’ The Sims 4 Player’s Guide documents a cheat option called Modify in CAS. The circa-2014 guide says it allows editing everything except the Sim’s name and inherited traits. Because the guide is dated, treat that as the scope it documented, not a guarantee that the option or its limits are unchanged in every current version. See the Player’s Guide and check the current in-game menus if the option differs.
Edit a household saved in My Library
A Library household is not yet an active household in your save. EA’s Gallery help explains how to open Gallery in Live Mode, find a Sim or household in Gallery or My Library, and choose Place Household to merge it with the active household. After placing it, use the household-management route above to open the household in CAS. EA’s Gallery instructions do not describe direct editing of a household that remains unplaced in My Library.

Add another Sim to a household
If your goal is to add a Sim rather than change an existing one, enter CAS through Manage Households: select the household and use its pencil control. An accepted EA Forums answer says this route lets players add characters to the family unit. If you entered CAS another way and cannot find an add-Sim control, return to Manage Households and try the household’s edit option; the forum answer is community guidance, and the current interface may differ by version or platform.
