To run ads on a 24/7 YouTube livestream in India, your channel must be accepted into the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), and you must accept YouTube’s Watch Page Monetization Module. Then, in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, turn on monetization for the stream and choose how to handle mid-roll ads. YouTube does not offer a separate ad switch specifically for 24/7 streams, and an ad slot does not guarantee an ad will play.

Meet the full ad-revenue YPP requirements
YouTube’s full ad-revenue tier requires 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the past 12 months or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the past 90 days. Reaching a threshold does not automatically admit a channel to YPP: YouTube reviews the channel against its monetization policies. The listed setup requirements also include living in a country or region where YPP is available, having no active Community Guidelines strikes, enabling 2-Step Verification, having access to advanced features, and linking an AdSense for YouTube account. Accept the Watch Page Monetization Module
In YouTube Studio’s Earn area, accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. It is a separate requirement from turning monetization on for an individual livestream. The module enables eligible Watch Page ad and YouTube Premium revenue; it does not by itself switch ads on for a particular stream. YouTube channel monetization policies and modules.
Turn on ads in YouTube Studio

Open YouTube Studio and select Create → Go live.

Start a stream from the Stream tab, or schedule one under Manage.

In the Live Control Room, open Edit → Monetization and set Monetization to On.

Review the ad settings before the broadcast starts. Monetized channels without rights management can set defaults for future streams at channel level.

When livestream monetization is enabled, pre-roll and display ads are turned on automatically. Mid-rolls are controlled separately through the approach you choose. YouTube’s Live Control Room instructions do not identify a different monetization setting for a continuous 24/7 broadcast. YouTube Help: Monetize your live stream.

Automatic is the practical starting point for a continuous channel when you cannot watch the stream constantly. Scheduled intervals suit creators who want a regular cadence. Manual placement suits a staffed broadcast where someone can decide when a break fits. None of these settings guarantees that an ad will actually run: YouTube states that ad slots are not guaranteed to serve ads. YouTube Help: Monetize your live stream.

YouTube reported that creators who chose live automatic mid-rolls saw over 20% average uplift in instream ad revenue per hour. This was YouTube’s January 2024 measurement across 207 countries, not a forecast or guarantee for an individual channel. YouTube Help: Monetize your live stream.
What a 24/7 schedule means for eligibility and revenue
Continuous operation does not bypass YPP acceptance, the Watch Page Monetization Module, or stream-level monetization settings. It also does not ensure uninterrupted monetization: ad delivery depends on whether YouTube fills available slots, and the content must remain eligible.

If you are accumulating the public watch hours required for YPP, YouTube says qualified watch time can come from public long-form videos and archived livestreams. Unarchived livestreams do not count toward that threshold. YouTube does not establish a universal maximum duration or guarantee the archive behavior of every continuous-stream setup, so do not assume that a 24/7 broadcast will be archived or count toward eligibility. Keep the content eligible for monetization
Livestreams remain subject to YouTube channel monetization policies and advertiser-friendly content guidelines. Copyright and other rights issues, reused-content concerns, or content that is not advertiser-friendly can affect eligibility. Age restriction or limited-ad suitability can prevent or reduce monetization; a 24/7 format does not exempt a channel from those reviews. In India, features such as memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks are additional fan-funding options, not prerequisites for livestream ad revenue. YouTube announced on July 7, 2026, that Gifts launched in India. Availability and eligibility for fan-funding features are separate from enabling Watch Page ads.
