To enable Creative Mode in Conan Exiles, join the server, make yourself an administrator, open Settings > Server Settings > Building, and set Creative Mode Server to Admins Only or All Players. Return to the pause menu, select Enter Creative Mode, and press F on PC to open the Construction Inventory. The setting is controlled by the server, while entering and leaving Creative Mode is a player action that applies to the current session.

What Creative Mode changes
Creative Mode removes the normal resource costs and building restrictions from construction. It is intended for players who want to prototype a base, test a layout, or build without gathering every required material first. Funcom described the feature in its July 7, 2022 announcement as follows: “Creative Mode pushes this aspect to its fullest, letting you build without costs or restrictions.”

Creative Mode does not create a separate temporary world. Items you place remain in the game world normally after you leave the mode. That makes it useful for permanent builds, not just experiments, but it also means that everyone who has permission can create no-cost structures on the server.
Choose who can use Creative Mode
The server owner controls access with the Creative Mode Server setting. Select the narrowest option that fits the server’s purpose:

Changing the setting does not automatically place every player in Creative Mode. It grants or removes permission to use the mode; each player still chooses Enter Creative Mode from the pause menu. Players should also expect to enter again after reconnecting or after a server restart because the current guide describes access as a per-session toggle.
Requirements before you start
- You must be connected to the Conan Exiles server whose setting you intend to change.
- You need administrator rights. On a server you do not own, ask the owner or an existing administrator to grant them.
- If you plan to use the console command, you need the server’s administrator password.
- Everyone who will build must understand which access level the owner selected, because the setting determines who can create structures without normal costs.
There is no special item, character level, resource, hosting plan, or physical product required by the documented process. The relevant controls are the server setting, administrator permission, and the in-game pause menu.
Step 1: Obtain administrator rights
Use the in-game menu
- Join the server and open the pause menu.
- Choose Settings, then Server Settings.
- Select Make Me Admin.
- Enter the administrator password when prompted, if the server requires one.
Once the request succeeds, remain connected to the server. The Creative Mode option is governed by server permissions, so a player who has not been made an administrator may not be able to change the setting or use an administrators-only configuration.

Use the administrator command on PC
The admin wiki also documents the console route. Enter MakeMeAdmin [AdminPassword], replacing the bracketed value with the server’s actual administrator password. On PC, press Insert or tilde to open the command interface. Ctrl+Shift+C opens the Admin Panel.
Use the command exactly as documented, including the command name and password. If it fails, return to the menu method and verify that you are connected to the intended server and using the correct administrator password.
Step 2: Enable the server setting
- Open the pause menu.
- Go to Settings > Server Settings > Building.
- Find Creative Mode Server.
- Choose Admins Only or All Players, depending on the access policy you want. Leave it at Disabled if the server should not offer Creative Mode.
- Return to the pause menu after selecting the intended level.
The three choices are an access control, not three different versions of Creative Mode. The building effect is the same for an authorized player; the difference is which accounts are allowed to start it.

Step 3: Enter Creative Mode
- With the server permission available, open the pause menu.
- Select Enter Creative Mode.
- On PC, press F to open the Construction Inventory.
- Select the building pieces or other construction items you need and place them in the world.
Creative Mode removes the normal resource costs and restrictions while it is active. It does not make placed objects automatically temporary: items created in the mode remain normally in the world.
On console, use the on-screen menu and control prompts shown by your version of the game. The documented PC shortcuts are Insert, tilde, Ctrl+Shift+C, and F; do not assume those keyboard keys apply to a controller.
How to leave Creative Mode
- Open the pause menu while Creative Mode is active.
- Choose Exit Creative Mode.
Leaving the mode returns you to ordinary play rules for subsequent construction. The structures you already placed stay in the world. If you reconnect or the server restarts, plan to use Enter Creative Mode again when you need it; the current instructions treat the mode as a per-session toggle rather than a permanent character status.

Why “Enter Creative Mode” is missing
The server is still set to Disabled
Open Settings > Server Settings > Building and check Creative Mode Server. If it is Disabled, players will not have the permission required for the Enter command. The owner or an administrator must choose Admins Only or All Players.
You do not have administrator rights
If the server is set to Admins Only, ordinary players will not be able to use the mode. Have the owner grant administrator access through Make Me Admin, or ask the owner to change the server setting to All Players when unrestricted access is intentional.
The permission was granted on a different server or session
Confirm that you are connected to the same server whose Building setting you changed. A permission or setting change on another server does not affect the current one. If you have reconnected or the server has restarted, check the setting again and try the pause-menu command in the new session.

You are looking for a building-inventory shortcut instead of the menu command
The sequence matters: first select Enter Creative Mode from the pause menu, then press F on PC to open the Construction Inventory. Pressing F before Creative Mode is active will not substitute for the permission step.
The administrator command did not work
Use the exact form MakeMeAdmin [AdminPassword] with the real password in place of the bracketed text. On PC, open the command interface with Insert or tilde. If you are using the Admin Panel, open it with Ctrl+Shift+C. A failed command does not establish administrator rights, so verify the result before checking the Creative Mode menu.
The Construction Inventory does not open
Confirm that the pause menu shows that you entered Creative Mode, then press F on PC. On a console, follow the controller prompt displayed for the Construction Inventory rather than a PC keyboard instruction.
Recommended settings for common server types
Private testing or moderation
Choose Admins Only. This lets trusted administrators test builds, prepare an event area, or investigate a construction issue without granting every visitor permission to create free structures.
Community building server
Choose All Players only when unrestricted construction is part of the server’s rules. Tell players that Creative Mode is a server-wide permission and that the structures they place remain in the shared world.
Standard survival server
Choose Disabled when the server’s design depends on gathering resources and observing ordinary building restrictions. If the policy changes later, an administrator can return to the same Building setting and select a different access level.
