To host the original Crazy Craft 2.2 with friends, install the matching client and the official Crazy Craft 2.2 server pack, run the server with Java 8, accept Minecraft’s EULA, and make the server reachable on your network. This release is the VoidWrath pack version 2.2.0 for Minecraft 1.6.4, not a newer Crazy Craft release.
Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
The most common failures come from mixing versions, using a newer Java runtime, leaving client-only mods in the server folder, or exposing the server without configuring the network. The procedure below keeps the client, Forge files, mods, configuration, Java runtime, and network settings aligned.

Identify the exact Crazy Craft release first
“Crazy Craft 2” can refer to several unrelated downloads. This guide covers the original VoidWrath release named Crazy Craft 2.2, shown by VoidWrath as version 2.2.0 for Minecraft 1.6.4. VoidWrath lists multiplayer support and 70 mods for that pack. Its description also uses the phrase “over 50 mods”; that is marketing wording, while the current pack listing gives the more specific count of 70.
| Item | Value for this guide |
|---|---|
| Pack | VoidWrath Crazy Craft 2.2 |
| Pack release | 2.2.0 |
| Minecraft version | 1.6.4 |
| Multiplayer | Supported |
| Mods | 70 listed by VoidWrath |
Do not copy mods, configs, or launcher files from Crazy Craft 3, Crazy Craft 4, or a newer “Updated” pack. Those releases target different Minecraft and Forge versions. A server can appear to start while still being unusable when its clients are built from a different release.

What you need before installing
- A computer that will run the dedicated server continuously while people play.
- The VoidLauncher client installation for Crazy Craft 2.2.
- The server pack supplied for the same Crazy Craft 2.2 release.
- A Java 8 runtime. Technic Platform Support states that Java 8 works for Minecraft versions below 1.17; because this pack uses 1.6.4, Java 8 is the conservative choice.
- Permission to run programs, create files, and change firewall or router settings on the host computer.
- A plan for connectivity: the host’s LAN address for people on the same network, or port forwarding/a tunneling service for people outside it.
Back up any existing world before replacing files. A clean, separate folder is safer than trying to convert a folder that already contains another modpack.
Install the matching client
- Install and open VoidLauncher.
- Open the Mod Packs tab.
- Search for Crazy Craft 2.2 and load that exact entry.
- Launch it once and reach the Minecraft main menu. This lets the launcher create the client’s directories and confirms that the pack itself can start before you introduce a dedicated server.
Technic Platform Support documents the same general modpack workflow: search for the pack by name or paste its platform link into the launcher. If you use a different launcher, select only the original 2.2.0/1.6.4 pack; a similarly named modern pack is not interchangeable.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsDownload the correct server pack
Open the VoidWrath Crazy Craft 2.2 page and use its Download the Server Pack path. The page identifies the pack as Minecraft 1.6.4. Treat that archive as the authoritative set of server files. Do not build a server by downloading individual mods from search results or by copying the contents of a newer Crazy Craft installation.
After downloading, extract the archive into a new folder with a simple path, such as a dedicated Minecraft server directory. Avoid placing it inside the client’s installation unless you have a specific reason; keeping client and server folders separate makes it easier to compare them and restore a clean copy.
Prepare the server files
Preferred method: use the supplied server pack
The supplied pack normally includes the Forge server files, mod directory, configuration directory, and a Windows or Unix-style start script. Keep the directory structure intact when extracting. If the archive contains both a Windows .bat file and a Linux/macOS .sh file, use the one that matches the host operating system.
Manual Forge method
If the archive does not include a usable server installation, follow Technic’s Forge procedure for the same Minecraft version:

- Create an empty server folder.
- Run the Forge installer that matches Minecraft 1.6.4 and choose Install server, targeting that folder.
- Copy the Crazy Craft 2.2
mods, config, and any mod asset directories from the official server pack into the new installation. - Remove mods that are client-only, along with configuration files that belong exclusively to those client-only mods. A dedicated server cannot load many rendering, interface, or client integration components.
- Use the supplied start script, or create a script that launches the Forge server jar rather than the vanilla Minecraft jar.
The manual route is a recovery option, not an invitation to mix releases. The Forge installer, mods, configs, and assets must all come from the Crazy Craft 2.2/1.6.4 set.
Make the start script use Java 8
Legacy Minecraft often fails when an operating system silently chooses a much newer Java runtime. Install Java 8 and explicitly point the start script to it if the server reports class-version errors, immediately closes, or displays unsupported Java options.
Windows
- Open the server folder and right-click the supplied
.batfile to edit it. - If the script calls only
java, replace that command with the full path to the Java 8 executable, for example"C:Program FilesJavajre8binjava.exe"when that is the path on your machine. - Save the file and run the script from the server folder. Keeping the working directory set to the server folder allows Forge to find its libraries, mods, and configuration files.
The exact Java 8 installation path differs by vendor and operating system. Use the path shown by your Java installation rather than copying an example path that does not exist.
Linux or macOS
- Confirm that Java 8 is installed and identify its executable path with your operating system’s Java tools.
- Open the supplied
.shscript and replace an unqualifiedjavacommand with the Java 8 executable path if more than one runtime is installed. - Make the script executable if necessary, then run it from the server directory.
Do not delete the Forge libraries or rename files merely to hide a Java error. First verify which runtime the script is actually invoking.

- Leave the console open until Forge finishes loading and the server reports that it is ready for commands. Closing the window during startup can leave an incomplete world or misleading error output.
If no eula.txt appears, inspect the console for an earlier Java, permission, or missing-file error. The EULA edit only helps after the server has successfully reached the stage where it can generate that file.
Use the supplied memory settings before changing them
Legacy modpacks have no universal memory number that guarantees smooth play. The official pack’s start script is the best initial configuration because it was distributed with the server files. Start there and watch the console rather than copying flags from a modern modpack guide.

If the server exits with an out-of-memory message, increase the maximum heap in small steps while leaving enough RAM for the operating system and the players’ clients. If the computer begins swapping, becomes unresponsive, or the Java process is killed by the operating system, the allocation is too high. Make one change at a time so you can identify whether memory, Java, or a mod is responsible.
When you need a custom script, keep the actual Forge jar name from your folder. A shell variable avoids guessing that filename:

The values in that example are syntax, not a tested Crazy Craft performance recommendation. Use the pack’s script first and adjust only when the server’s logs justify it.
Connect on the same home network
Players using the same Wi-Fi or wired network do not need internet port forwarding. Find the host computer’s LAN address, keep the server running, and have each player enter that address in Minecraft’s multiplayer screen. The host can usually connect through the local server listing or by using the same LAN address.
- Give players the host’s private network address, not an internet-facing address.
- Allow the Java/Forge server through the host computer’s firewall when the operating system asks.
- Keep the server console running; an address is useless if the process has stopped.
- If the host’s LAN address changes after a reboot, provide the new address to players or reserve the host’s address in the router.
Let friends outside your network join
Players outside your Wi-Fi cannot normally reach a computer using only its private LAN address. Technic’s server guidance identifies two routes: configure router port forwarding, or use a port-tunneling service.
Port forwarding
- Determine the port configured in the server’s
server.propertiesfile. Forward that same port and protocol from the router to the host computer’s LAN address. - Permit the server application and the selected port through the host firewall.
- Keep the host’s LAN address stable, otherwise the router rule can point to the wrong computer after a reboot.
- Restart the server or router when your network equipment requires it, then give friends the connection address and configured port.
Never publish a router’s administration credentials or open unrelated ports. If your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT or blocks inbound connections, ordinary forwarding may not work; a tunneling service can be the practical alternative.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Port tunneling
A tunnel creates an externally reachable address that forwards traffic to the local server without changing the router. Install the tunnel client on the host, map it to the server’s configured port, and give players the tunnel address. Follow the tunnel provider’s current instructions for authentication, uptime, and limits; those details vary and are not part of the Crazy Craft pack itself.
Join the server from a matching client
- Every player installs Crazy Craft 2.2 through the launcher and starts the 1.6.4 profile.
- Open Multiplayer, choose Add Server or Direct Connect, and enter the host’s LAN address or the external/tunnel address.
- Use the server port configured by the host when the client asks for one.
- Connect only after the server console shows that startup has completed.
If a player sees missing-mod, registry, or handshake errors, stop troubleshooting the network and compare installations first. Those messages usually indicate that the client and server are not the same pack release or do not contain matching Forge, mod, or configuration files.
Keep every installation identical
For this legacy pack, “the same modpack” means more than the same title. Compare the following before inviting players:
- Crazy Craft release: 2.2.0.
- Minecraft version: 1.6.4.
- Forge build supplied for that release.
- Mod files and versions.
- Configuration files, including any server-relevant settings.
- Required mod assets and libraries.
- Java compatibility, with Java 8 as the baseline.
When in doubt, have the affected player reinstall the exact launcher entry rather than replacing one jar at a time. On the server, restore the official server pack and reapply only deliberate world or configuration changes.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Troubleshoot by symptom
The server closes immediately
- Check that Java 8 is being invoked, not the operating system’s newer default.
- Run the script from the server folder so relative paths resolve correctly.
- Read the first error in the console, not only the final “server stopped” line.
- Confirm that the Forge jar and its libraries came from the 1.6.4 server pack.
A Java class-version or unsupported-option message points to the runtime. A missing class or missing library message points to an incomplete Forge installation or mixed files.
The console says the EULA is not accepted
Stop the process, open eula.txt, change only the value to eula=true, save it, and run the same script again. If the file is recreated with false, you edited a different server folder than the one the script is using.

Clients get a missing-mod or Forge mismatch error
Verify the client profile says Minecraft 1.6.4 and Crazy Craft 2.2. Compare the server’s mods and config directories with a clean copy of the official server pack. Remove any client-only mods from the server. Do not solve the error by downloading a similarly named mod from another Crazy Craft generation.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The server starts, but nobody can connect remotely
- Confirm that the server is still running and listening on the configured port.
- Test from the host’s LAN first. If LAN players cannot join, fix the server, firewall, or client mismatch before testing the internet path.
- Check the host firewall rule.
- Check that the router forwards the configured port to the host’s current LAN address, or that the tunnel maps to the right local port.
- Restart the server, router, or tunnel client when the configuration requires it.
Only some players can join
Separate network reachability from pack compatibility. If local players can join but one remote player cannot, inspect that player’s external address, firewall, or tunnel path. If the connection reaches the server but is rejected during login, compare the player’s pack, Forge, mods, and configs with the working clients.
The world or settings seem to reset
Check which folder the start script is using and whether you are launching a second copy of the server. Stop the process cleanly before replacing files. Back up the world and configuration directories before testing changes, then restore the known-good copy if a mod or configuration edit causes new errors.
Backups and routine administration
Back up before every change
Stop the server before copying its world directory. Keep dated backups outside the live server folder so a failed update cannot overwrite every copy. Back up configuration files as well as the world; modded worlds can depend on block, item, and dimension settings stored in those files.
Change one variable at a time
When diagnosing a problem, change only Java selection, a firewall rule, a network route, or one file set at once. Record what changed and whether the server reached its ready state. This is especially important with a 70-mod legacy pack, where several simultaneous edits can hide the original cause.

Keep an untouched copy of the official server pack. If experimentation leaves the installation uncertain, create a new folder from that clean copy, accept the EULA, and move only the backed-up world and deliberately retained configuration files. Do not copy an entire damaged folder and assume the problem has been removed.
Self-hosting versus managed hosting
You can run the server on your own computer or rent a managed Minecraft server. The correct choice depends less on the pack’s name than on whether the service explicitly supports a legacy Forge server pack.
| Consideration | Self-hosting | Managed hosting |
|---|---|---|
| Setup effort | You install Java, the pack, scripts, firewall rules, and networking. | The provider supplies a control panel or setup workflow, but you still need to upload or select the exact legacy pack. |
| File and Java control | Full control over jars, mods, configs, scripts, and Java selection. | Depends on the provider; verify that custom Forge files and Java 8 are allowed. |
| Network configuration | You handle port forwarding or a tunnel. | The provider normally supplies an external address, subject to its network rules. |
| Cost | Uses your computer and internet connection; any electricity or tunnel charges depend on your setup. | Recurring rental cost; the amount is not established here and varies by plan. |
| Backups | You are responsible for scheduling and testing them. | Backup tools may be available, but confirm retention and whether restoration includes the world and configs. |
| Legacy compatibility | You can preserve the exact 1.6.4 environment yourself. | Ask specifically about Crazy Craft 2.2, Forge 1.6.4, Java 8, custom server packs, and file access before paying. |
| Support | You diagnose Java, Forge, mods, and networking. | Support may cover the host platform, not modpack-specific errors. |
For a private group with someone comfortable managing a computer and router, self-hosting offers the most control. Managed hosting is simpler only when the provider confirms support for this exact legacy stack; a generic “modded Minecraft” label is not enough.
