In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019), open Options > Account and set Crossplay to Enabled. Activision says crossplay is enabled by default, so you may not need to change anything.
Where to find the crossplay setting
- Open Options from the game menu.
- Select the Account tab.
- Set Crossplay to Enabled. Activision’s support page documents the setting path as Options > Account > Crossplay and confirms that crossplay is enabled by default: Activision’s crossplay instructions.
Activision’s platform-specific guides group online settings under Account > Online. Menu labels may differ on your screen; the documented control is the Crossplay setting in Account: Activision’s settings guides.
How to invite a friend on another platform
- Open Social from the main menu.
- Select Friends, then Invite Friends.
- Choose Enter Activision Account.
- Enter your friend’s Activision ID. The example format is
PlayerName#1234567; some older IDs may not include the digits after the name.
Activision documents crossplay for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and says it is supported in all multiplayer modes: Call of Duty’s 2019 multiplayer announcement.
Crossplay and crossplay communication are separate
Crossplay lets you play with people on other supported platforms. Crossplay Communication is a separate setting for text and voice chat with players on other platforms. If you want to communicate across platforms, check that control as well; Activision places it alongside Crossplay in the Account online settings.
