The option is available title by title, not as a universal Xbox app switch.
Check whether your game supports Xbox app mods
Open the Xbox app on Windows and go to the game’s details page. Look for a mod-support label; its wording may vary, with labels such as “This game can be modified” or “This game supports mods.” Developers decide whether a title supports the Xbox app’s built-in mod feature, so the option may not appear for every Game Pass game.
Enable mods and open the game’s mod folder
-
Install the game, then open its details page in the Xbox app for Windows.
-
Select More actions (…), choose Enable mods, and follow any prompts.

If “Enable mods” is missing
First check the game’s details page for the mod-support label. If the title is not marked as supporting mods, the Xbox app’s built-in Enable mods workflow may not be available for it. Check the developer’s instructions for any separate supported modding method. There is no current exhaustive list established here of Game Pass games eligible for this Xbox app feature, so verify availability on the game’s own page.
