What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Enable NVIDIA DSR in NVIDIA Control Panel, then check whether Apex Legends offers one of its generated higher resolutions under Settings > Video. Apex-specific support is not confirmed by EA’s published PC guidance, so the resolution may not appear even when DSR is enabled in the driver.
Enable DSR in NVIDIA Control Panel
- Open NVIDIA Control Panel.
- Select Manage 3D settings.
- Under DSR Factors, select the scaling factor or factors you want to enable, then apply the change. Labels may vary with the installed driver version.
- Launch Apex Legends and open Settings > Video. Look for a resolution higher than your display’s native resolution and select it if available.
NVIDIA describes DSR as rendering a game at a higher resolution and scaling the image down to the display’s resolution. Its general instructions are to enable the desired DSR factors in Control Panel and then choose the corresponding resolution in the game: NVIDIA’s DSR setup guide.
What if the higher resolution is missing?
There is no confirmed Apex setting called “DSR” that you can switch on inside the game. EA’s PC settings guidance documents resolution and other video options, but does not confirm that Apex exposes NVIDIA-generated DSR resolutions. Historical player reports describe missing resolutions and conflicting workarounds; they do not establish how the current build behaves. If the resolution does not appear after enabling DSR, current Apex compatibility remains uncertain.
EA recommends starting with your monitor’s default resolution and aspect ratio. The available resolution options can vary with aspect ratio, so check that setting in the Video menu as well.

DSR is different from Apex’s adaptive resolution options
Do not confuse NVIDIA DSR with Apex’s Adaptive Resolution FPS Target or Adaptive Supersampling. They are separate in-game controls, not switches for enabling DSR.
- Adaptive Resolution FPS Target: EA lists a range of 0 (off) to 100 and says enabling the feature requires TSAA. EA recommends leaving it disabled unless you experience frequent frame-rate drops. EA’s PC options reference.
- Adaptive Supersampling: An Apex video option with behavior separate from NVIDIA DSR. EA says it can be raised if very low settings harm image quality. EA’s settings recommendations.
Should you try DLDSR instead?
NVIDIA also provides DLDSR under Manage 3D settings > DSR Factors. NVIDIA describes it as AI-enhanced downsampling that works in most games on GeForce RTX GPUs, but that broad compatibility statement does not confirm that Apex exposes DLDSR-generated resolutions. Selecting DLDSR in Control Panel is therefore not a guarantee that it will be selectable in Apex. See NVIDIA’s DLDSR overview.
