On a PS5 Pro, check Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > Enhance PSSR Image Quality. PlayStation says this system setting is on by default and improves image quality in certain compatible games. It is available only on PS5 consoles in the CFI-7000 model group. Individual games may also offer their own graphics options, so there is no single switch that enables every PS5 Pro enhancement.
Check the PSSR image-quality setting
- From the PS5 home screen, open Settings.
- Select Screen and Video, then Video Output.
- Check that Enhance PSSR Image Quality is enabled. PlayStation says it is on by default and is available only on CFI-7000 model-group consoles. PlayStation’s PS5 Pro support page explains the setting.
- Start a game that supports PSSR and check its image. The effect varies by title; if you notice unwanted visual effects, you can turn the setting off. PlayStation’s March 16, 2026 announcement describes the updated PSSR rollout and this option.
Understand the three PS5 Pro graphics labels and options
PS5 Pro Enhanced
This is a game-level label for titles optimized for PS5 Pro. It does not identify one universal graphics mode; enhancements and available choices differ by game. Sony’s November 4, 2024 launch announcement described a sample of more than 50 enhanced games at launch, not the size of today’s catalog. Read the launch announcement.

Enhance PSSR Image Quality
This is the system-level option for certain PSSR-compatible PS5 Pro games. It is separate from a game’s own graphics menu, and PlayStation cautions that results vary by title. Its current supported-title list is on PlayStation’s PS5 Pro support page.

This is a different system feature for PS4 games played on a CFI-7000 model-group console. It requires a display that supports 2160p or 1440p at 60 Hz. To check it, open Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output and select Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games. PlayStation advises turning it off if gameplay behaves unexpectedly. #1 Best Overall
- Ray Tracing - Immerse yourself in worlds with a new level of realism as rays of light are individually simulated, creating true-to-life shadows and reflections in supported PS5 games.
- Faster Loading - Fast-travel across the map and get back into the game almost instantly with the PlayStation 5 console’s ultra-high-speed SSD and fast load times.
- Stunning Visuals - Experience the vast world in stunning 4K and HDR at 120 FPS (with a 4K and HDR compatible TV or display)
- Breathtaking Immersion - Discover a deeper gaming experience with support for haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and 3D Audio technology.
- Backwards Compatibility - Play over 4,000 PS4 games on PS5. Enjoy faster and smoother frame rates in some of the PS4 console's greatest games.
Find supported games and choose their graphics options
- In PlayStation Store, open Collections > PS5 Pro Enhanced, or search for “PS5 Pro.” The Store catalog can change, so check it for current listings. PlayStation also maintains a supported-title list.
- For a specific title, open its in-game graphics or display settings and review the available modes. Do not assume every enhanced title uses PSSR or offers the same resolution, frame rate, or image-quality trade-off.
- Compare the choices the game actually presents: image detail or upscaling, resolution, and frame rate. The official sources establish that results vary, but do not provide a standardized performance comparison across all titles.
As of October 9, 2026, PlayStation’s page listed these games under “Supported titles with Enhanced PSSR”: Resident Evil Requiem; SILENT HILL f; SILENT HILL 2; Final Fantasy VII Rebirth; Alan Wake 2; Control; Monster Hunter Wilds; Dragon’s Dogma 2; Dragon Age: The Veilguard; Nioh 3; Rise of the Ronin; Crimson Desert; Assassin’s Creed Shadows; and Cyberpunk 2077. This is a dated list of titles identified as supporting Enhanced PSSR, not a permanent or exhaustive list of every PS5 Pro Enhanced game. Check the live list before relying on it.
If the option is missing or the picture looks wrong
- You cannot find the PSSR option: PlayStation says the setting is limited to CFI-7000 model-group consoles. Check your console model and open Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output.
- A game does not appear as PSSR-supported: PS5 Pro Enhanced status and PSSR support are not interchangeable. Check the current supported-title list and the game’s own settings.
- You see unwanted visual effects in a PSSR game: Turn off Enhance PSSR Image Quality in Video Output. PlayStation’s March 2026 announcement says the setting can be disabled if unexpected visual effects occur.
- PS4 gameplay behaves unexpectedly: Turn off Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games. That feature also requires a 2160p or 1440p display output at 60 Hz.
What the PSSR update changes—and what it does not promise
PlayStation began a phased rollout of upgraded PSSR software on March 16, 2026, and said players could manually check for and install the system update through PS5 settings. Remedy’s Graphics Technical Director Tatu Aalto described the update as improving upscaling quality and stability; Square Enix’s Naoki Hamaguchi said fine details in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, such as character hair, are restored more naturally, with less flickering and afterimage. These are developer descriptions, not a guaranteed result or measured performance figure for every game. Read PlayStation’s update announcement.
