If you own the copyright in material used in a GTA 6 video—or are authorized to act for its owner—you can submit a copyright removal request through YouTube Studio. First check that the particular video is unauthorized: Rockstar’s general fan-content policy does not make every gameplay upload infringing, and YouTube does not decide ownership disputes.
Before filing, check that you can make the request
YouTube’s copyright removal-request process is for a copyright owner or an authorized representative, such as a lawyer. Being the person who found or reported a video does not by itself authorize you to file as the rights holder. Do not sign the request as the owner if you do not own the relevant right or have authority to act for its owner.

Rockstar says it welcomes fan gameplay footage subject to its guidelines. Those guidelines address occasional, non-commercial in-game content use by individual members of its fan community. They are not a blanket guarantee that every upload is authorized, nor do they establish that a particular video infringes. For questions about the policy, Rockstar lists its legal page; its policy contact is [email protected]. YouTube also says the copyright owner must consider whether an exception such as fair use, fair dealing, or public domain applies. Permission, a license, and the facts of the video matter too. The legal answer may depend on the applicable law.

Submit a copyright removal request in YouTube Studio
- Open the copyright removal-request form. Use YouTube Studio’s official copyright removal-request tool. YouTube’s copyright removal request guidance explains who may submit and what the form requires.
- Identify the specific video. Provide its direct URL and clearly describe the copyrighted work you believe it uses without authorization. A request applies to a specific allegation; YouTube requires a separate request for each allegedly infringing video, not a general complaint about a channel or playlist.
- Complete the required legal statements truthfully. The form asks you to affirm that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized and that the information is accurate. It also requires you to state, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or an agent authorized to act for the owner of an exclusive right allegedly infringed. YouTube requires a physical or electronic signature entered as your full legal name. Do not submit false information or use the process improperly.
- Consider who will see your details. YouTube says your name may be shown in connection with a removal. The uploader may receive your full legal name, primary email address, and description of the copyrighted work. If you are concerned about disclosure of your personal information, an authorized representative may submit on the owner’s behalf.
What happens after submission
YouTube reviews whether the request appears valid and may ask for more information. If it is valid, YouTube removes the video and applies a copyright strike to the uploader. YouTube also offers a scheduled removal request: if accepted, it takes effect after seven days, giving the uploader time to act before removal and a strike.

Submitting a request does not make YouTube the judge of who owns the copyright. YouTube says it does not determine copyright ownership or mediate ownership disputes. If ownership is contested, the platform’s removal process is not a substitute for resolving that dispute.
Copyright removal requests and Content ID claims are different

YouTube’s Content ID overview describes claims, while its removal-request guidance covers legal takedowns. A claim and a takedown request are not interchangeable.

Gameplay sharing and monetization are separate questions
Rockstar’s fan-content guidance is general and does not settle the status of an individual GTA 6 upload. Separately, YouTube’s video game and software content monetization guidance says monetization depends on commercial-use rights granted by the publisher. That monetization guidance is not itself a finding that a video infringes copyright.
