On a PS5 Pro, open Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output and switch on Enhance PSSR Image Quality. PlayStation says the option is on by default, so check its current setting first. It is available on PS5 Pro consoles in the CFI-7000 model group.

Turn on Enhance PSSR Image Quality

  1. From the console home screen, open Settings.
  2. Select Screen and Video, then Video Output.
  3. Select Enhance PSSR Image Quality and turn it on if it is off.

PlayStation lists the option for the CFI-7000 model group and says it is enabled by default. See PlayStation’s PS5 resolution settings guide.

What the setting does—and what it does not do

PSSR is PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an image-upscaling feature for supported PS5 Pro games. The console setting applies only to games that support PSSR; enabling it does not add the feature to every game. PlayStation describes the intended benefits as improved image stability and clarity in fine details, while noting that results vary by title. Check the official PS5 Pro page for its current supported-game information.

Examples listed by PlayStation under Enhanced PSSR include Resident Evil Requiem, SILENT HILL f, SILENT HILL 2, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Alan Wake 2, Control, Monster Hunter Wilds, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Nioh 3, Rise of the Ronin, Crimson Desert, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and Cyberpunk 2077. The list can change as support is added, so consult the official page rather than treating these examples as exhaustive.

How to check whether it helps in a game

For a game that supports PSSR, compare the same scene with the setting on and off. Look at fine detail, image stability while moving, and whether unexpected visual effects appear. The visible result depends on the game; there is no universal improvement guaranteed by the console-wide toggle.

Turn PSSR off if you see unwanted effects

Return to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > Enhance PSSR Image Quality and switch the option off. PlayStation recommends disabling it if a supported game shows unexpected visual effects on a monitor or another display. You can turn it back on from the same menu.

The same post says users can turn PSSR off if unexpected visual effects occur. See PlayStation.Blog’s rollout announcement for that update’s context.
