bServerAllowReplayRecording=trueThis permission is separate from dedicated-server automatic recording. The first setting allows an individual player to start a replay; automatic recording uses a different game-mode setting or an administrator command and also requires a reboot.

What the permission setting does
bServerAllowReplayRecording controls whether players may initiate the client replay tool. Its documented default is false, so a server that has never enabled it will prevent player-initiated recording. Setting it to true does not itself start a recording and does not create an always-on surveillance feed. It only grants permission for clients to use the replay controls.
The change is read when the dedicated server starts. Editing a live process will not apply it; stop the server before changing the file, then restart it after saving.

Before you edit Game.ini
- Make sure you have administrative access to the dedicated-server files and the ability to stop and start the server.
- Identify the server configuration directory and its
Game.ini. The exact folder name and path vary with the operating system, installation method, and hosting panel. - Stop the server cleanly before opening the file. Do not rely on a hosting panel that merely disconnects you while the game process continues running.
- Make a backup copy of
Game.iniso you can restore the previous configuration if another edit is accidentally changed. - Use the exact section name and key spelling shown below. If the section already exists, add the key inside that section rather than creating a second competing copy.
Enable player replay recording step by step
- Stop the dedicated server. Wait until the process has fully shut down according to your host or service manager.
- Open the server’s
Game.ini. Use a plain-text editor or the configuration editor supplied by your host. The location is installation-specific, so use the server’s configuration directory rather than a client installation folder. - Find or create the exact section header:
[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession]If the header is already present, do not duplicate it; place the setting beneath the existing header.
- Add the Boolean value on its own line:
bServerAllowReplayRecording=trueKeep the value as lowercase
true, with no quotation marks, and do not append a comment to the line. - Save the file. Confirm that the editor did not add a second extension such as
.txtand that you edited the server copy of the file. - Restart the dedicated server. The server must load the new configuration during startup before players can use the feature.
- Join with a supported client and test it. Ask a player to connect after the restart and start a short recording using the procedure in the next section.
- Stop the test recording and review it. This confirms both that the permission was accepted and that players know how to operate the replay controls.
How a player starts and stops a replay
Chat commands
Alderon Games Support documents the manual method as: “You can initiate a Replay recording by typing /demorec into the chat and sending.” The player enters /demorec in the in-game chat and sends it. To finish, the player sends:
/demostopThese commands control the client-side recording for that player. They are not substitutes for the server configuration; the server must first permit replay recording.
PC keyboard control
On PC, the default replay-recording toggle is U. A player can use that key instead of typing the chat command, provided the key has not been reassigned. If the key does nothing, test /demorec in chat to separate a key-binding problem from a server-permission problem.
Console control
Console players can assign a replay toggle in Settings > Controls. The exact controller binding can differ from the PC default, so the player should check the current control layout after joining the restarted server.

Mobile limitation
The published hosting guidance says the replay tool is not released on iOS or Android. The replay-tool announcement likewise describes support as PC and consoles, with mobile support still planned. A mobile player therefore cannot be used as a test client for this feature even when the server setting is correct.
Player permission and server auto-recording are different features
It is easy to confuse the permission flag with dedicated-server automatic recording. They have different operators, configuration locations, and purposes.

Configure the dedicated-server option
If your goal is an administrator-controlled automatic recording rather than giving players a manual tool, add this separate entry to Game.ini under its exact section:

bHandleDedicatedServerReplays=TrueSave the file while the server is stopped, then reboot the server. This setting is not a replacement for bServerAllowReplayRecording=true: you can enable one, the other, or both according to the moderation workflow you want.

Use the administrator command instead
The hosting guide also documents an admin-only command for the automatic feature:
/ServerAutoRecord 1After issuing it, reboot the server for the change to take effect. To disable automatic recording, use:

/ServerAutoRecord 0Reboot again after disabling it. This command controls server auto-recording; it does not grant or revoke the player permission controlled by bServerAllowReplayRecording.
What a Path of Titans replay contains
Replay recordings are gameplay captures that cover players and activity within render distance of the player making the recording. They are therefore useful for reviewing a nearby incident, but a player’s replay is not a guaranteed record of every event on the map. Events outside the recording player’s captured area may not appear.

The replay guide describes information such as nametags, growth stages, grouped players, and related game state being visible during playback. That makes the feature useful when an administrator asks for evidence of an unfair kill, suspected rule breaking, or another reported incident.
A replay is not a finished video file. Alderon’s official FAQ explains: “No, a replay is not a video, but you can use other software to record video footage from within the replay and view/upload it as a video.” In practice, the replay is viewed inside Path of Titans; a separate capture workflow is needed when moderators want a conventional video for publication or sharing.
Testing checklist after the restart
- Connect with a PC or console account; do not use an iOS or Android client as the test.
- Confirm that the player can enter
/demorecwithout an error or blocked action. - Move near another player or a controlled test event so the recording has observable activity within render distance.
- End the recording with
/demostop, or toggle it off using the configured control. - Open the replay in the game and check that expected nametags, growth stages, grouped players, and nearby actions are present.
- If you also enabled automatic recording, perform a separate reboot and verify that the server-side workflow is operating; do not infer it from the player’s manual test.
Troubleshooting common failures
The server still says replay recording is disabled
- Verify that the line is under
[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession], not under an unrelated section. - Check the spelling and capitalization of
bServerAllowReplayRecordingand confirm its value istrue. - Make sure the server was actually stopped before editing and fully restarted afterward. A panel refresh or player reconnect alone is not enough.
- Confirm that you edited the dedicated server’s
Game.ini, not a local client configuration file or a different instance on the same machine. - Look for duplicate sections or later configuration entries that could make it unclear which value the server is loading. Keep one clear entry in the correct section, then restart.
The PC U key does nothing
Use /demorec in chat first. If the command works, open the controls menu and restore or reassign the replay toggle. If the command is also rejected, return to the server-side checks above.
A console player cannot find the control
Open Settings > Controls and assign a replay toggle. Console layouts do not use the PC default key, so the absence of a U key is normal.

A mobile player cannot record
This is a platform limitation, not evidence that the INI edit failed. Replay support is documented for PC and consoles, while iOS and Android support is not released in the cited guidance.

- Confirm that you used the dedicated-server section and key, not only the player-permission setting.
- If you used
/ServerAutoRecord 1, reboot the server afterward; the command is documented as taking effect after a reboot. - Do not use a successful
/demorectest as proof that server auto-recording is enabled. They are separate systems.
The replay does not show a distant incident
Check the capture scope before assuming a fault. Player recordings cover gameplay within the recording player’s render distance, so an event beyond that area may not be present.
Choosing the right setup for moderation
Use player permission when incidents are occasional
Enable bServerAllowReplayRecording=true when you want players to preserve evidence on demand. Give moderators and regular players the two commands, explain the PC and console controls, and ask reporters to start recording as soon as an incident occurs. This approach keeps recording under the player’s control and matches the documented client replay workflow.
Use dedicated auto-recording when administrators need continuous server-side capture
Choose the dedicated-server setting or /ServerAutoRecord 1 when the moderation policy calls for an administrator-managed automatic process. Define who can access and review those captures, and tell staff that a reboot is required after enabling or disabling the command. The automatic feature should be evaluated on its own rather than assumed to provide the same render-distance view as a player recording.
Use both only when the policies are clear
A server can permit player recordings while also running the separate automatic system. If you do that, document which source moderators should request for a report, which administrators can enable or disable auto-recording, and when a reboot is scheduled. Keeping the two workflows labeled separately prevents a player’s local-scope replay from being mistaken for a complete server record.
Administrator handoff checklist
- Record the exact
Game.inisection and key used for player permission. - Record whether the dedicated-server setting or
/ServerAutoRecordcommand is enabled. - Note the last restart time after each configuration change.
- Tell players that
/demorecstarts a replay and/demostopends it. - Tell PC players about the default
Utoggle and console players where to configure a control. - State that replays capture nearby, render-distance gameplay rather than guaranteed map-wide activity.
- Explain that a replay must be viewed in Path of Titans and converted to conventional video with separate software if a shareable video is required.
- Do not promise replay support to iOS or Android players until official mobile support is released.

For a normal community server that only needs player evidence, the first entry is the required change. Add the dedicated-server option only when you specifically need administrator-controlled automatic recording.
