Equip a saddle from the inventory
- Open Henry’s inventory.
- Transfer the saddle to the horse if it is in Henry’s inventory. Use the transfer control displayed for the item. GameSpot’s guide gives X as an example for PC/controller instructions, but do not assume that binding applies to every platform.
- Select the horse tab. It is the rightmost inventory tab in the guide.
- Open the horse equipment or tack section and select the saddle to equip it.
GameSpot’s guide, published February 3, 2025, describes the horse tab as the place to equip horse gear. Its instructions do not document every platform’s bindings or menu wording, so follow the prompt shown in your game. GameSpot’s horse-item guide.

What horse gear does

| Horseshoes | Improve speed. |
| Caparison | Increases courage, slightly increases carrying capacity, and decreases speed. |
Choose based on what you need from your horse: carrying capacity, stamina, speed, or courage. The guide does not provide a full item-by-item stat ranking.
Where to find a saddle
If you do not have one, look for horse gear in quests or chests, or visit an in-game Saddler. GameSpot describes Saddlers as the most reliable vendors for horse gear and notes that it can be expensive.
