To defeat Vile Lictor, destroy his four shielded limbs in phase one, then damage his armored heart. In phase two, use Shock or Radiation against his shield and grapple to an outer platform when the central bomb is about to explode. The boss is at the end of Umbral Foundry in Terminus Range, during His Vile Sanctum.
Where to find Vile Lictor
Vile Lictor is the final boss of Umbral Foundry in Terminus Range. Reach him by progressing through the His Vile Sanctum mission. A Fast Travel station outside Umbral Foundry was added in Gearbox’s January 29, 2026 update, making return trips easier. Gearbox’s January 29, 2026 update notes.

Phase one: destroy the limbs, then attack the heart
Vile Lictor starts behind a damage gate: his heart cannot be damaged until you destroy the four limbs he summons. The limbs have shield health; once they are gone, target the exposed heart, which has armor health. Mobalytics’ Vile Lictor guide recommends matching your damage type to each health bar.
- Limbs: Use Shock or Radiation against their shields.
- Heart: Switch to Cryo or Corrosive against its armor.
Stay mobile and read the attacks
Keep moving to avoid the limbs’ slow projectiles. Epic Games Store guide writer Jason Rodriguez describes the Hundred Hands attack this way: “Vile Lictor’s Hundred Hands spawns multiple projectiles that beeline for your character’s location.” Epic Games Store’s campaign boss guide.

Vile Lictor also sends out exploding adds. You can kill them or move away before their delayed explosions. For the ground-traveling Spectral Wall, jump over the wave. If the wall arrives in segments, move through a gap. Staggered Fade Walls can be dodged by stepping out of one wave, then returning to the safe area after it passes. Phase two: break the shield and escape the bomb
The second phase shifts the battle to a different dimension, and Vile Lictor’s health type changes to shield. Use Shock or Radiation, then watch for his new attack patterns.

Dodge the limb flurry and walls
When a limb flurry comes toward you, strafe sideways; sprinting or dashing is not necessary for this attack. Vile Lictor may teleport across the arena, so turn and reacquire him. When he makes several lateral hops and leaves narrow walls behind, sidestep the walls rather than jumping into the next one.
Grapple away from the central bomb
Watch the energy bomb growing in the center of the arena. Before it detonates, grapple to one of the platforms around the arena’s edge. They sit outside the ring and above the floor damaged by the blast. Mobalytics’ boss guide describes the bomb and platform timing.

Prepare for both health types, not one prescribed build
The encounter calls for elemental coverage across shield and armor, accurate attacks on the limbs and heart, and enough mobility to dodge the walls and reach an outer platform. The available guides establish those mechanics but do not identify one best weapon, class, or build. Bring options for both phases rather than relying on a single damage type.

After your first win, PC Gamer reports that Moxxi’s Big Encore can respawn Vile Lictor. Gearbox’s January 29, 2026 update also says his limbs continue to respawn after being frozen, so do not rely on freezing them to stop their return. PC Gamer lists the Super Soldier shield as a possible Vile Lictor drop, alongside Ruby’s Grasp, Blockbuster, and class mods. These are possible drops, not guaranteed rewards, and none is required to defeat him. PC Gamer’s Vile Lictor loot reference.
The Super Soldier’s Power Play perk grants 25% increased fire rate while the shield is full, according to PC Gamer; it also reports overshield, ammo regeneration, and bonus movement speed.
