Equip decorations from Equipment > Change Equipment at a Smithy or camp tent. Select a weapon or armor piece, open its decoration slots, then choose a decoration that matches the equipment type and slot level. Decorations can be fitted to High Rank gear with an available slot.
How to equip a decoration
- Go to Gemma at a Smithy, or open a tent at a Base Camp or Pop-up Camp.
- Open Equipment, then select Change Equipment.
- Highlight the weapon or armor piece you want to customize. With a controller, press Right on the D-pad to open its decorations view.
- Select an available decoration slot, then choose a compatible decoration from the list.
PC Gamer’s guide, published February 27, 2025, describes this route and notes that a level-one decoration can fit a level-three slot; a higher-level decoration needs a slot of at least its level. PC Gamer’s decoration guide.
Why a decoration may not appear
Check the equipment category
Weapon decorations go on weapons, and armor decorations go on armor. If the list does not show the decoration you want, make sure you selected the corresponding kind of equipment.
Check for an open slot and its level
A piece needs an available decoration slot, and the slot’s level must support the decoration. For example, a level-one decoration fits a level-three slot, but a higher-level decoration requires a slot of adequate level.
