Trade Haunter to that player. Haunter evolves into Gengar as part of the trade.

If you want your original Pokémon back, have your partner trade Gengar back to you in a second trade.

The trade-evolution reference lists Gengar as evolving from Haunter by trade, with no held item specified. It describes the general rule in Pokémon’s trade-evolution guide; FireRed-specific references corroborate the method.
Does Haunter need a certain level or an item?
No level requirement or evolution stone is listed for Haunter’s evolution into Gengar. Trading is the required method; leveling Haunter alone will not trigger the evolution.

FireRed and LeafGreen have a restriction affecting some trade evolutions when the evolved Pokémon is outside the Kanto Pokédex and the player has not obtained the National Pokédex. The cited example is Onix evolving into Steelix. That example does not establish that the restriction blocks Haunter from evolving into Gengar, so it should not be treated as a confirmed obstacle for this evolution.
