Trade Kadabra to another player in Pokémon SoulSilver. It evolves into Alakazam during the exchange; no level-up requirement is listed for this evolution.
How to evolve Kadabra
- Find a trade partner. Arrange the trade with someone nearby. If you want your own Kadabra back as Alakazam, agree before trading that your partner will return it.
- Connect locally. Each player needs a DS-family system and a compatible Generation IV game card. The instruction booklet lists HeartGold, SoulSilver, Platinum, Diamond, and Pearl as compatible cards for DS wireless communication, so both players do not need SoulSilver.
- Meet in the Union Room. In both games, go to a Pokémon Center and enter the Union Room on the second floor. Find your partner, start a trade, and confirm the exchange.
- Complete the return trade, if needed. Kadabra evolves into Alakazam during the first exchange. To get it back, trade again with the same partner.
The game mechanic triggers the evolution, but it cannot ensure that another player will return your Pokémon. The return depends on your partner’s cooperation.

Can Kadabra evolve without leveling up?
Yes. The cited Generation IV evolution reference lists trade as Kadabra’s evolution condition, with no level requirement. There is no alternate level-up method listed for SoulSilver.

Nintendo discontinued its original Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service on May 20, 2014. That online service and local DS wireless are separate: the game booklet describes local Union Room trading, which is the documented official option for players nearby. The available sources do not establish an official current remote-trading alternative.
