To evolve Wurmple in Pokémon GO, open its Pokémon summary and tap Evolve when you have enough Wurmple Candy. A guide published in 2022 reports the cost as 12 Candy, but check the amount shown in your game. Wurmple can evolve into either Silcoon or Cascoon; the available guidance does not establish a reliable way to choose which one.
How to evolve Wurmple
- Open your Pokémon list and select Wurmple.
- On Wurmple’s summary screen, check the Candy requirement displayed by the game.
- When you have enough Wurmple Candy, tap Evolve.
Niantic’s evolution instructions explain that Candy requirements vary by Pokémon and appear on its summary screen. A Wurmple-specific guide from Nintendo Life, published September 20, 2022, reports a cost of 12 Wurmple Candy. Because that figure comes from a secondary guide rather than a current Wurmple-specific statement from Niantic, use the in-game display as your check.

What Wurmple can evolve into
Wurmple’s first evolution is either Silcoon or Cascoon. Silcoon evolves into Beautifly, while Cascoon evolves into Dustox. The Pokémon Company’s Cascoon Pokédex entry lists these Pokémon in the same evolution family.
Can you choose Silcoon or Cascoon?
The Nintendo Life guide does not identify a reliable player-controlled method for selecting Wurmple’s branch. It describes claims involving time of day and IVs as theories without clear evidence. Treat the result as uncertain: do not rely on day or night, IVs, or another supposed trick to guarantee Silcoon or Cascoon.

How to work toward both evolutions
If you want both Beautifly and Dustox, evolve additional Wurmple rather than expecting to control a particular result. Each evolution can still produce either first-stage branch, so this approach does not guarantee which one you receive on a given attempt.
