After looting Ruined Homestead, heal, check the live Blue Gate map for an active exit that fits your position, and prepare for the extraction countdown to reveal your location. Raider Hatches can provide another way out if one is available and you have the required key. No available source establishes a single closest or safest exit from the landmark, so choose based on the current raid rather than a fixed route.
Find Ruined Homestead on the Blue Gate map
Ruined Homestead is in southern Blue Gate beside Olive Grove. It is a small landmark, so zoom in around Olive Grove if its label is difficult to spot. PC Gamer’s location guide also identifies the site as the setting for the Sheltered Retreat photo objective.

That objective is separate from escaping: the guide says photo objectives require an uncommon in-game camera, obtainable from Shani for 1.9k, craftable at a basic workbench with 8 Plastic Parts and 1 Wire, or available through a quest. The camera has no role in extraction.
Why the extraction itself is risky
Starting extraction begins a countdown and sends a visible signal that can alert nearby Raiders and ARC. You may be vulnerable on the way to the exit and while the countdown runs. Embark’s explanation of the game’s risk-and-reward design frames the choice as pursuing more rewards at the cost of fewer, riskier ways out or leaving with lighter bags.

Before triggering the sequence, heal and consider whether nearby ARC can be cleared without adding more risk. A Firecracker may distract attention from a likely approach, and a Smoke Grenade may provide emergency concealment, but neither guarantees safety from other players. These are tactical options, not protection against every threat. The extraction guide recommends preparing before starting the countdown.
Choose an exit from the live raid map
Blue Gate guides list multiple extraction markers, but their names can differ and availability depends on the current raid. One current map guide lists these eight: Lucky Hatch, Cliffside Airshaft, Warehouse Airshaft, Prefab Hatch, Reinforced Hatch, Forest Airshaft, Overlook Airshaft, and Fragrant Hatch. Treat that as a guide’s marker list, not a guarantee that every marker is active or named identically in your raid. The available sources do not compare distance, approach cover, line of sight, nearby player traffic, or ARC threats between Ruined Homestead and individual exits. There is therefore no evidence-based universal safest or closest choice. In your raid, compare:
- Whether the exit marker is active under the current map condition.
- How far the route is from your current position, and whether it crosses exposed ground unnecessarily.
- Whether the approach offers cover and whether you have noticed nearby ARC or player activity.
- For a hatch, whether you have the key it requires.
Once your bag is valuable, weigh the risk of crossing the map or returning for optional loot against the benefit of carrying more. A Blue Gate Cellar Key guide places a cellar door southwest of Ruined Homestead and suggests planning extraction on the same side of the map after that loot run; it does not establish that any nearby exit is safer. Use a Raider Hatch only if the raid supports it
A Raider Hatch can be an alternative to a standard extraction route, but current guides say hatches generally require a Raider Hatch Key. Special map conditions may change hatch availability, so confirm the raid rules and the live map before relying on one. If you do not have the required key or the hatch is unavailable, choose an active standard exit instead. The extraction guide and Blue Gate map guide describe hatch availability and markers.

- Pause in cover and heal. Do not begin extraction while you still need to recover health or reassess nearby threats.
- Open the live map. Find active exits for the current raid; do not assume a static guide’s marker list matches your available routes.
- Pick the route that fits your position. Favor an active exit with a manageable approach over an unsupported claim that one named exit is always safest. Avoid unnecessary open ground and detours for optional loot if the haul is already worth protecting.
- Check hatch requirements. Use a Raider Hatch only when it is available and you have the required key.
- Prepare for the signal and countdown. Expect nearby Raiders and ARC to be alerted when extraction starts. Use available cover and tactical items thoughtfully, then commit only when ready.
Because extraction mechanics, markers, and map conditions can change with patches, verify the current raid state before setting out.
