You generally can’t find any Clash Royale account through a universal search by display name alone. Supercell’s documented ways to connect with a player use their Supercell Player ID, a friend link or QR code. If you know their clan, you can search for the clan and look through its members—but that is not a global player search.

Add a player using their Supercell Player ID
- Open the in-game Supercell ID menu.
- Go to Friends and tap the plus icon.
- Choose the option to enter a Player ID and type the ID the other player gave you.
Supercell describes a Player ID as a unique identifier for Supercell ID. It is distinct from a Player Tag, so make sure you have the right identifier before trying to add someone. See Supercell’s Player ID guidance.

Use a friend link or QR code
If you can contact the player, ask them to share their friend link or QR code. Supercell documents both as ways to add friends through the game’s social features. Follow the link they share or scan their code in-game. The official Friends instructions cover these options.
Search by clan, then check its members
If you know which clan the player is in, search for that clan using its name or clan tag. Supercell also documents clan filters and advanced search. Open the clan and look through its member list to see whether the player is there. This only helps if you know the relevant clan and the person is listed in it; it does not search all Clash Royale accounts by player name. See Supercell’s clan search and joining guidance.

Player Tag and Player ID are different
A Player Tag is an account identifier that begins with a hashtag. Supercell says it is mainly used to add in-game friends and help Support locate a lost account. To find it in-game, tap the profile button at the top left of the game screen. A Player ID is the unique identifier for Supercell ID, which can be entered when adding a Supercell ID friend. If someone says they want to add a friend “by player tag,” clarify whether they mean the hashtag-style Player Tag or the Supercell Player ID. Don’t assume that one can be entered in the other’s place.

If you only know the display name
Supercell’s support instructions linked above document friend connections by Player ID, link or QR code, and searches for clans—not a general search that locates an individual account by display name. A display name alone may not uniquely identify the account. Ask the player for a supported way to connect, or use a known clan as a lead.
