How to Find a Concert or Tour Setlist Before the Show

Check official artist announcements, then compare recent performances from the same tour on Ticketmaster and setlist.fm. Past setlists are a preview, not a promise of what the next show will include.

To preview a concert setlist, check the artist’s official tour page and social channels, then compare recent dates from the same tour on Ticketmaster and setlist.fm. Those lists document past performances—not a confirmed setlist for your upcoming show. If the tour has not started, the upcoming setlist may simply be unknown.

Start with the right expectation: a preview is not a promise

A setlist is the sequence of songs performed at a particular show. Before that performance happens, its actual setlist may not be public. Recent concerts on the same tour can show which songs the artist has been playing, but they cannot confirm what will happen at a future date.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

This distinction matters when you search. A page titled or presented as a setlist should refer to a performance that took place, with a date and venue. Setlist.fm’s editing guidelines explicitly say that assumed lists based on other concerts from the same tour are not allowed. Treat a previous show as a useful preview, not as the setlist for your upcoming concert.

Think of a past setlist as a record, not a forecast. It can help you recognize recurring songs and understand the shape of a current tour, but even several similar nights do not establish what the artist will play next. A show-specific announcement from the artist may confirm a special format or a change, but absent that kind of announcement, the exact future sequence remains unknown.

Where to look for a setlist preview

Source What it can tell you How to use it
Artist’s official website and social channels Show-specific announcements, tour changes, a special format such as an album performed in full, and sometimes scheduled artist start times. Check the official tour page and the artist’s current social accounts for the exact date or venue. Official channels can also corroborate a setlist after a show.
Ticketmaster artist page Its May 29, 2025 guide says an artist page may display up to five setlists from recent tours, including each performance’s venue, city, and date. Look below the artist biography or About section. The setlists may be hidden in a dropdown; the guide describes a feature, not a guarantee that every artist page currently displays entries.
setlist.fm A deeper record of past performances, with dates, venues, and tour context when available. Open the correct artist entry and compare recent performances from the same tour. Check each date and venue so you do not mistake a past show for the upcoming one.
Venue or festival website and social channels For multi-act events, these may publish a running order and scheduled performance times. Use the event’s own schedule to identify when the specific artist is expected to play; doors time or the first act’s time is not necessarily the headliner’s start.

Ticketmaster’s description of its artist-page feature is in its May 29, 2025 guide to concert setlists; the company also described the integration on its business site. Because the consumer guide is dated, check the specific artist page rather than assuming the feature is present or that it shows five entries.

The sources answer slightly different questions. An official artist post is the place to look for a show-specific announcement or change. Ticketmaster offers a quick way to see some recent-tour entries when the artist page has them. Setlist.fm can provide a broader historical record, which is useful when you want to compare dates and tour context. A venue or festival schedule is primarily useful for timing and event order, not for predicting the songs.

How to find the most relevant recent setlists

  1. Search the artist and tour name. Try the artist’s name with “setlist” and the tour name. Confirm that you have the right artist: performers can share names, and setlist.fm uses artist disambiguation. Its Pearl Jam setlist catalog is an example of an artist page with historical entries and tour context.
  2. Check official announcements first. Visit the artist’s tour page and current social accounts. Look for an announcement tied to your date, a tour change, or a special show format. A general tour post is not confirmation of a particular night’s songs.
  3. Check Ticketmaster’s artist page. If the page has recent setlists, look below the About section and expand any dropdown. Confirm the listed city, venue, and date. These entries represent earlier performances, even when they are from the same tour.
  4. Compare recent dates on setlist.fm. Choose entries from the current tour where possible, and verify their dates and venues. Compare more than one recent show to see which songs recur and where the list changes. A tour match makes a past setlist a more relevant preview, not a guarantee.
  5. For a festival or multi-act bill, find the running order. Check the festival or venue’s website and social channels for the specific artist’s scheduled time. Do not infer the headliner’s start from doors time, the event’s advertised start, or the opener’s slot.

Keep the search tied to the exact performer and event. If an artist has a common name, use the tour name, venue, or city as additional search terms and confirm the identity against the official tour page. Once you open a setlist page, read its performance date and venue before looking at the songs. An entry for the right artist but the wrong date or event format may be less useful than a slightly older entry from the correct tour.

For a quick comparison, line up two or more recent dates from the same tour and note which songs appear in all of them, which appear only once, and whether the sequence changes. This is a way to describe the pattern in the performances already recorded; it is not a method for calculating a guaranteed upcoming set. If only one recent entry exists, say so rather than treating it as a tour-wide pattern.

How to read a recent setlist as a preview

First check the context around the list. The date and venue establish which past performance it records; tour context helps show whether it is relevant to the upcoming show. Then compare another recent performance from that tour if one is available. Repeated songs are a useful indication of what has been recurring, while differences are a reminder that a tour does not necessarily have one fixed set every night.

Pay attention to the kind of event as well as the artist and tour. A festival appearance or another unusual booking may have a different format or length from a regular tour date. An official announcement about an album performed in full, for example, is more specific to that event than a general pattern from other shows. Do not assume that a festival set will reproduce a full headlining concert setlist.

There is also a difference between a complete-looking list and a confirmed one. Setlist.fm says edits require sources, and its guidelines name complete, uninterrupted audio or video and official artist channels as examples of valid sources. A new or partial entry may still be incomplete or mistaken. If exact songs matter to you, look for corroboration rather than relying on a single unsourced post or fragment.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use words that match the evidence. “The artist played these songs at the last recorded show” describes a past performance. “These songs may give you an idea of the current tour” describes a preview. “This is the setlist for your date” should be reserved for a list that actually documents that performance, not an inference made before the show.

How to judge whether a result is trustworthy

Give more weight to information tied to a particular performance and supported by a clear source. A dated entry with the right venue is more useful than an unsourced post claiming to know a future setlist. Setlist.fm requires sources for edits; its guidelines give complete, uninterrupted audio or video and official artist channels as examples of valid sources. A new, partial, or uncorroborated entry can be incomplete or mistaken, so check for corroboration when the exact songs matter.

  • Match the show: Check artist identity, date, venue, and tour. Similar artist names or an unrelated past tour can lead to the wrong result.
  • Prefer recent, same-tour performances: They are the most relevant available preview, but the artist may change songs, guests, encores, or set length by city or event.
  • Separate confirmed from inferred: A recorded past performance is evidence of what happened there. A prediction based on that show remains a prediction.
  • Check official event information: Artist, venue, and festival announcements can establish a special format or schedule that a general setlist archive may not explain.

When sources appear to disagree, compare what each one is actually claiming. An official event announcement may describe the format, while an older setlist page records what happened at a different venue on an earlier date. Those statements can both be accurate without answering the same question. For an upcoming show, prioritize information explicitly tied to that date, and label older performance records as examples rather than confirmation.

Recency helps only when the performance is a meaningful comparison. The newest entry from an unrelated tour may tell you less than a slightly older one from the current tour. Conversely, even a recent same-tour date cannot settle what will happen at the next show. Use date, venue, tour, event format, and source quality together rather than relying on one signal.

Before the tour begins, the setlist may be unknown

If the first date of a new tour has not happened, there may be no reliable setlist from that tour to consult. A previous tour can offer context about songs the artist has played before, but it does not establish what the new tour will include. Rehearsal rumors are not confirmation either. The accurate answer may be that the upcoming setlist has not been published or performed yet.

Once the tour is underway, compare several of its recent dates. Repeated songs suggest a pattern; changes between shows show why no single earlier set can guarantee the next one. For a festival appearance or another unusual event, give more attention to information about that specific booking, since its format and length may differ from a regular tour date.

If there is no matching tour entry yet, you can still check the official tour page and social accounts for show-specific information, then revisit setlist pages after the first performances have taken place. Until there is a performance record or an official announcement, do not treat an older tour’s songs or an online prediction as the new tour’s actual setlist.

Understand doors time versus the artist’s start time

Event listings may show several different times. A ticket’s general start time can refer to the first act or the beginning of the event, not the headliner. Setlist.fm distinguishes these timing details, and artist social posts or venue and festival schedules may provide a scheduled time for a particular performer.

  • Doors: When the venue is advertised as opening to the public.
  • Scheduled start: The intended start for a particular artist, if the event or artist has published one.
  • Actual start: When the performance begins; records may count an intro before the artist appears.
  • Actual end: When the performance finishes after the final encore, subject to how an outro is recorded.

For the most useful estimate, look for a schedule naming the artist—not just the doors time or a generic event start. Published schedules can change, so treat a scheduled time as the intended timing rather than proof of when the performance will actually begin.

This matters especially at festivals and bills with several performers. Check the running order on the venue or festival’s own website or social channels, and look for the specific artist’s slot. Doors time tells you when the venue is advertised to open; it does not tell you when the headliner will appear. The first act’s scheduled time is likewise not a substitute for the headliner’s schedule.

A quick checklist before you leave

  • Confirm that the artist page belongs to the right performer.
  • Look for an official announcement or show-specific format for your date.
  • Use recent setlists from the current tour as previews, and check their dates and venues.
  • Compare more than one performance where possible; note recurring songs and changes without treating the pattern as a promise.
  • Distinguish a past performance from a confirmed upcoming setlist.
  • Check the venue or festival running order for the artist’s scheduled time; do not equate it with doors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I find the exact setlist for a concert before it happens?

Usually, not as a confirmed performance record. Before the show, compare recent dates from the same tour and check official announcements for show-specific details. A past setlist is a preview, not proof of what the artist will play at your date.

Where should I look first for a concert setlist?

Check the artist’s official tour page and current social channels for announcements, then look at the artist’s Ticketmaster page and setlist.fm for recent past performances. For a festival or multi-act event, check the venue or festival schedule for running order and artist times.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How many setlists does Ticketmaster show on an artist page?

Ticketmaster’s May 29, 2025 guide says an artist page may show up to five setlists from recent tours, with venue, city, and performance date. The guide describes the feature; it does not guarantee that every artist page currently displays five entries.

What if the tour has not started yet?

There may be no reliable setlist from that tour yet. A previous tour or a rehearsal rumor does not confirm what the new tour will include. Check official artist channels for announcements and revisit performance records after the tour begins.

How can I tell whether a setlist entry is reliable?

Check that the artist, performance date, venue, and tour match the show you are researching. Setlist.fm requires sources for edits and cites complete, uninterrupted audio or video and official artist channels as examples. Treat new, partial, or uncorroborated entries cautiously.

Does a ticket’s start time mean the headliner starts then?

Not necessarily. The time may refer to doors, the beginning of the event, or an opening act. Look for a venue or festival running order or an artist announcement that gives the scheduled time for the specific performer.

The Bottom Line

For the best pre-show preview, check the artist’s official updates and compare recent setlists from the same tour on Ticketmaster or setlist.fm. Verify the date, venue, and event format, and treat every past performance as a clue—not a promise. If the tour has not begun, or no show-specific announcement exists, the exact setlist may simply be unknown.
