To add someone in Subway Surfers, open Profile > Friends > Add Friend, then scan their QR code or enter their Friend Tag. Those are the direct-add methods documented by SYBO.
How to add a friend in Subway Surfers
- Open the Profile menu in the game.
- Select Friends.
- Tap Add Friend.
- Choose QR-code scanning and scan the other player’s code, or choose manual entry and enter their Friend Tag.
- If a request or acceptance you expect does not appear, close and reopen Subway Surfers. SYBO recommends this as the first troubleshooting step.
These steps and labels come from SYBO’s New Friends List help article. Its interface details may change as the game updates.
Choose QR scanning or Friend Tag entry
| Method | What you need |
|---|---|
| QR code | Access to the other player’s displayed QR code and a working camera permission. |
| Friend Tag | The other player’s exact Friend Tag, entered manually. |
SYBO documents both options but does not describe name-only search, so use a QR code or exact Friend Tag rather than searching by display name.
Why Facebook friends may be missing
Friends added through the older Facebook system do not automatically carry over to the new Friends list. Add those players again through Profile > Friends > Add Friend, using their QR code or Friend Tag.

Older SYBO guidance about connecting Facebook in Settings refers to seeing Facebook-connected friends on the Top Run Friends leaderboard, not to the current direct-add process. See SYBO’s Top Run article for that older leaderboard context.
What about Game Center?
The U.S. App Store listing mentions Game Center leaderboards and achievements. It does not identify Game Center as a way to add Subway Surfers friends directly, so use the in-game Friends list for adding people.
