How to find and buy discounted Nintendo Switch games on the eShop

By VGSources Team 9 min read

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For the U.S. Nintendo eShop, start with Nintendo’s official Sales & Deals page. Use its filters to narrow the catalog, open the individual offer, and verify the live price, regular price, product type, platform compatibility, availability, and sale end information before you pay. Then complete the purchase and download through Nintendo eShop on your Switch device.

Digital promotions change frequently. A price or deadline seen in a search result, an old article, or a store listing is not reliable until the current Nintendo offer is open. This guide covers Nintendo’s U.S. storefront; currency, prices, payment methods, and account rules can differ in other countries.

What Nintendo’s eShop deals page actually gives you

Nintendo’s U.S. Sales & Deals page is the most direct starting point for discounted digital games and downloadable content. Nintendo describes the page as a place to find savings on digital games and DLC, check featured offers and recommendations, and explore all sales and deals. It is a live catalog rather than a permanent price list, so the assortment and terms can change after you find a link.

The catalog can expose filters for price, platform, availability, and edition. Listings can show a current price, a regular price, a discount percentage, and sale-end information. Those fields help you screen offers quickly, but the individual product offer is the final checkpoint. Open it immediately before checkout and confirm that the details still match what you intend to buy.

How to find a discounted game

1. Open Nintendo’s U.S. Sales & Deals page

  1. On a phone or computer, go to nintendo.com/us/store/sales-and-deals/.
  2. If you are already using your Switch, you can also open Nintendo eShop and follow any sale links presented there. The web page is useful for browsing and filtering; the purchase is completed through the eShop route on your device.
  3. Check that the storefront is the U.S. version before relying on a dollar price or a displayed offer.

Do not treat a search-engine result or a cached snippet as proof that a deal is still active. Dynamic sale pages can update between the time a result is indexed and the time you click it.

2. Narrow the catalog with the available filters

Use the filters shown on the live listing to reduce the number of products you need to inspect. The available controls can include:

  • Price: Select a range that fits your budget, then check the final displayed price rather than assuming every item in the range has the same discount.
  • Platform: Distinguish Nintendo Switch offers from Nintendo Switch 2 offers or products whose compatibility is listed differently. Choose the platform you actually own.
  • Availability: Use the current availability option when it is present so you do not spend time on an offer that cannot be purchased.
  • Edition: Filter for digital editions when your goal is an eShop download. This also helps separate a full game from DLC or another edition.

Filter names and layout can change as Nintendo updates its storefront. Follow the labels visible on the page rather than relying on an old screenshot or a remembered menu order.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

3. Read the result card, then open the offer

A result can reveal the title, current price, regular price, discount percentage, platform, edition, and sale-end information. Use those fields to shortlist games, but do not stop at the card. Select the title and open the actual product offer. The offer page is where you should confirm the product identity and terms immediately before buying.

What to verify on the individual offer

Before selecting a purchase button, run through every item that can change the value or usability of a deal. The following checklist keeps the comparison grounded in the live Nintendo listing.

Rank #2
$50 Nintendo eShop Gift Card [Digital Code]
  • This item can be redeemed on eShop only. This item cannot be redeemed on the Wii Shop
  • The perfect gift for anyone who loves to play—including you. Choose from over 1,000 new, classic and indie games – delivered directly to your Nintendo Switch, Wii U or Nintendo 3DS family of systems.
  • Nintendo eShop Digital Cards are redeemable only through the Nintendo eShop on the Nintendo Switch, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS family of systems.
  • Digital Card balances can be shared across Nintendo Switch, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS family of systems, but may only be used on a single Nintendo eShop account.
Check What to confirm Why it matters
Title The exact game you want, including subtitles or special editions. Similar names can refer to a sequel, remaster, bundle, or add-on rather than the base game.
Product type Full digital game, DLC, expansion, bundle, or another content type. A discount on DLC does not provide the base game, and a bundle may contain a different package of content.
Platform The listing’s compatibility designation for Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2. A product must match the system on which you plan to play it. Do not infer compatibility from the title alone.
Edition Standard, deluxe, complete, or another edition as explicitly shown. Different editions can include different content and have different regular prices.
Current price The amount charged now in the U.S. storefront. This is the amount that determines what you pay, not the percentage printed beside it.
Regular price The comparison price displayed by Nintendo. It shows the reference amount used for the displayed saving; it is not necessarily the price of every physical or third-party listing.
Discount The percentage or saving shown on the live offer. The percentage is useful context, but the final price and the product you want are the decision that matters.
Sale end The date and time Nintendo displays for the offer. Deals expire, and the deadline can arrive before you return to the page.
Availability That the offer is currently purchasable. A listing can remain visible even when its availability or promotion status changes.

If any field is missing, ambiguous, or inconsistent with the result card, pause and resolve that discrepancy on the live offer instead of checking out.

How to compare two or more eShop offers

A large percentage off is not automatically the best purchase. Compare the products and the final amounts side by side. Nintendo’s catalog supports the following decision axes:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Comparison axis Question to ask Decision rule
Final price What is the current U.S. price shown on each offer? Choose the amount you are willing to pay, after confirming that both products are the ones you want.
Reference price and saving What regular price and discount does Nintendo display? Use the percentage as context; do not let it outweigh a higher final price or unwanted content.
Deadline Which sale ends first, according to the live offer? If you need time to decide, the earlier deadline is the practical constraint. Recheck the page before purchase.
System compatibility Does the listing identify Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, or another platform? Buy only the version identified as compatible with your system.
Content type Is it a full game, DLC, bundle, or another edition? Match the purchase to the content you need; a lower-priced add-on is not a substitute for the game.
Edition contents What does the named edition include? Read the offer description so you do not pay for a package that omits content you expected or includes extras you do not want.

There is no supported discount threshold that makes every game a good buy, and the Nintendo pages do not establish an average saving or a schedule for when a particular title will return to sale. Judge the live offer on its own terms.

Buy and download through Nintendo eShop

Nintendo has described the purchase route as shopping Nintendo eShop on a device to purchase and download games. The cited announcement was for Nintendo’s Blockbuster Sale of August 27, 2026, which ended September 9, 2026; it explains the route, not a current promotion. Use the current offer you verified rather than assuming that announcement’s sale is still active.

  1. Open Nintendo eShop on your compatible Switch device. Use the Nintendo Account and storefront associated with the purchase you intend to make.
  2. Locate the same title and edition. Search for the exact name, then compare the product type and platform designation with the offer you checked on the Sales & Deals page.
  3. Recheck the live terms. Confirm the current price, regular price, discount, availability, and sale end information again. The catalog can change between browsing and checkout.
  4. Proceed to purchase. Follow the payment and confirmation screens shown by Nintendo eShop. The exact payment choices and prompts can vary by account and region.
  5. Download after the purchase completes. Nintendo’s described eShop route combines purchase and download; wait for the console to show the download has started or completed before launching the game.

At checkout, verify the account and store region displayed by Nintendo. The available evidence covers Nintendo’s U.S. storefront but does not establish every region-specific purchasing rule, payment option, or account restriction.

Rank #3
$20 Nintendo eShop Gift Card [Digital Code]

Using an eShop card to fund the purchase

Nintendo’s U.S. retail offers page lists Nintendo eShop cards and explains that their balance can be redeemed through a Nintendo Account to purchase games and other content. A card is an account-funding method, not proof that a game or the card itself is discounted.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Confirm that the card is intended for the same country or storefront as the Nintendo Account you will use.
  2. Check the current retailer terms and the card’s value before buying it.
  3. Redeem the balance to the Nintendo Account according to Nintendo’s instructions.
  4. Return to the verified game offer and use the available account balance at checkout.

Do not assume that a card purchased in one region will work in another, or that a card’s face value represents a saving on the game. Both the card’s terms and the game’s live offer must be checked separately.

Common mistakes and how to avoid them

Buying from a stale search result

Search indexes can show an old price or a sale that has already ended. Always open the official Sales & Deals page and then the individual offer immediately before payment. If the current offer no longer shows the advertised saving or deadline, treat the live listing as authoritative.

Confusing a game with DLC

DLC, expansions, and add-ons can appear beside full games and may carry similar artwork or names. Check the product-type and edition fields. If you do not already own the base game, an add-on will not satisfy that purchase.

Choosing the wrong platform

Do not infer Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 compatibility from a title, cover image, or a third-party description. Use the platform designation on Nintendo’s listing and make sure it matches your hardware.

$70 Nintendo eShop Gift Card [Digital Code]

Focusing only on the percentage

A 50% reduction on an expensive edition can cost more than a smaller reduction on a less expensive game. Compare the current prices, the content included, and the edition before deciding.

Missing the deadline

Record the sale-end information displayed on the offer if you need time to decide. Reopen the page before checkout, because the deadline and availability can change and the displayed time may be tied to the storefront’s own settings.

Assuming membership is required

The official pages reviewed for this guide do not establish that a Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to buy a discounted game. Do not add a membership solely because a sale listing exists; follow the requirements shown for your account during checkout.

Assuming every country follows the U.S. listing

The prices, currency, catalog, payment methods, and account rules discussed here are for Nintendo’s U.S. storefront. If your Nintendo Account is registered elsewhere, use that country’s official Nintendo store and verify its local terms instead of converting a U.S. price.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A quick pre-purchase checklist

  • You opened the official Nintendo U.S. Sales & Deals page rather than relying on an old result.
  • The live offer is available to purchase.
  • The exact title and edition match what you want.
  • The product is a digital game if that is what you intended, not DLC or another add-on.
  • The platform designation matches your Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 system.
  • You recorded the current price, regular price, displayed discount, and sale-end information.
  • Your Nintendo Account and storefront region are correct for the purchase.
  • If using an eShop card, its region and current retailer terms are compatible with your account.
  • You reopened the offer in Nintendo eShop immediately before confirming payment.

Which official pages to use

Keep these Nintendo pages as your starting points:

These pages do not guarantee that a particular title will remain discounted or return to sale. The current product offer, opened just before checkout, is the information to rely on.

Bottom line

Find the deal on Nintendo’s official U.S. Sales & Deals page, filter for the right price range, platform, availability, and digital edition, then open the title and verify every live term. Compare final prices and included content—not just discount percentages—before purchasing through Nintendo eShop. An eShop card can fund the transaction, but it does not create a discount, and every region-specific price or account rule must be confirmed on the storefront you use.
