Why Farfetch’d was worldwide for 48 hours
Farfetch’d was described as an Asia regional exclusive before the event. When the Global Catch Challenge reached its three-billion-catch milestone, the reward made Farfetch’d available worldwide for a limited time. Kangaskhan, another regional Pokémon, was available in East Asia during the same reward period. Pokémon GO Hub’s November 26, 2017 event report records the milestone and rewards.
The report quotes the Pokémon GO account: “Congratulations, Trainers! You did it! You’ve caught over 3 billion Pokémon and unlocked a new reward during the Global Catch Challenge.” The three billion catches were reached over seven days.
When the worldwide window ran
Contemporary coverage places the reward window at approximately 7:51 p.m. ET on November 25 through approximately 7:51 p.m. ET on November 27, 2017. The end time was reported as approximate. These dates describe the completed 2017 event, not a live notice or a schedule that is known to repeat. iMore’s November 26, 2017 guide gives the reported times.

How players were told to find Farfetch’d during the event
The following advice comes from the 2017 guide and describes the game as it worked then. It is not confirmation of a current spawn route or of Farfetch’d’s present availability.
Look for a wild spawn
The guide described Farfetch’d as a wild encounter. It cautioned that the Pokémon might not show in Sightings when many PokéStops were nearby, and suggested walking around the area where it had spawned.

Use Nearby tracking when a PokéStop was associated with it
If Farfetch’d appeared in Nearby beside a PokéStop, the guide advised selecting it and using the tracking option to follow it. This is period-specific guidance; current interface labels and tracking behavior may differ.
Try Incense or a Lure, according to the old guide
The guide also said Incense and Lures could attract Farfetch’d during the event. It reported that Farfetch’d could not be hatched from eggs at that time. Neither statement establishes what is possible in the current game.

Is Farfetch’d available worldwide now?
The historical event does not establish present-day worldwide availability, and the cited sources do not confirm a current appearance or encounter method. For upcoming events, Pokémon GO’s Help Center advises checking in-game news and the game’s official social channels. Its Raid Hour help page gives that general guidance; it does not announce a Farfetch’d event.
