Find Winterhome by continuing Frostland exploration during Chapter 3. Once the story route reveals the ruins, scout the site, connect it to New London with Trails, and send colonists. Discovery alone does not establish the colony—and the move leads into a more urgent chapter, so prepare New London before you commit.
Where to find Winterhome
Winterhome appears through Frostland exploration as you progress through Chapter 3. Guides describe its location differently: Game8 places it northeast of New London, beyond The Gorge, while Gamepressure identifies the ruins as being in Cursed Valley near New London. Follow the connected, story-marked route on your Frostland map rather than relying on either description as an exact coordinate.
How to reach and colonize Winterhome
- Recover from the Whiteout. Chapter 3 gives you a rebuilding window. Restore New London’s economy and address urgent city problems before taking on another major commitment. Gamepressure’s October 25, 2024 guide advises using this period to prepare for the next chapter’s demands.
- Continue Frostland exploration. Send Frostland Teams through connected regions until the story route reveals Winterhome. The route descriptions above are guides, not tile-by-tile directions.
- Scout the ruins. Select the Winterhome site and review the options and requirements shown in your game. A general colony guide from Dot Esports describes a gold-bordered flag marker and says colony requirements commonly include Cores, Prefabs, and Frostland Teams. Treat the in-game display as authoritative; requirements can vary by site or game version.
- Prepare New London before dispatch. Build up resource production and warehouse reserves, keep enough workforce for both the capital and the colony, and stabilize city conditions and relations with communities and factions. This is a substantial campaign commitment, not a casual expansion.
- Build Trails to the site. Connect Winterhome to New London with Trails, the link used to transport colonists. Then send colonists to establish the colony.
What to prepare before sending colonists
Chapter 3 is the practical preparation window. Aim to enter the transition with a functioning capital, reserve resources, available workers, and manageable city and faction problems. Gamepressure describes Chapter 4 as a time-pressured race that requires substantial resources at the colony, and calls the decision to move on a point of no return. The exact demands and timing are not established here, so use the objectives and resource indicators in your current run rather than planning around an assumed timer or fixed stockpile.
What changes after Winterhome is established
Colonizing Winterhome advances the story into Chapter 4, which the cited chapter guide characterizes as urgent and resource-intensive. The transition makes preparation important: resolving New London’s problems first gives you a stronger position for managing the new colony and the next chapter’s objectives.
