The encounter is reached through the resulting Dreamscape: Blissful Retreat route and Worldly Affairs: Dream in Flames Lost Chapter—not by tracking a roaming boss. In the fight, parry red attacks, dodge gold attacks, and attack during recovery or after a knockdown.
How to unlock the Yi Dao fight
- Complete Chapter 1 of the main story.
- Travel back to the burned ruins of Blissful Retreat in Qinghe.
- Look for the sword stuck in the ground by a tree near the destroyed building, then interact with it.
- Follow the Dreamscape: Blissful Retreat route and the Worldly Affairs: Dream in Flames Lost Chapter to reach Yi Dao.
This trigger and route are described by third-party walkthroughs, including All Things How’s Yi Dao guide. A separate boss index also reports the burned-building trigger. These are guide accounts rather than official game documentation.
How to handle Yi Dao’s attacks
The walkthrough describes Yi Dao as a fast, human-sized boss with one health bar and one phase. Its basic rule is color-coded: parry red attacks and dodge gold attacks. Successful deflections deal Qi damage; when his Qi is depleted, Yi Dao staggers and opens an Execute opportunity. Save your combo for a genuine recovery or knockdown instead of attacking into every brief gap.
| Attack | What to watch for | Guide’s suggested response |
|---|---|---|
| Jump strike | He leaps into an overhead swing with a red blade cue. | Time a parry to the red flash. |
| Triple wave slash | He fires three energy projectiles; the third is delayed. | Deflect the first two, then time the response to the third. Alternatively, move sideways during the charge to disrupt tracking. |
| Blinding Speed Slash | He throws his sword, teleports to it, then chains rapid slashes and a return swipe. | Stay locked on and hold position through most intermediate slashes; deflect the finishing return strike. |
| Delayed circular slashes | He adopts a stance before three broad circular attacks. | Back out of range during the stance, or respond to the Celestial Seize prompt if it appears. |
These move descriptions and responses come from one detailed third-party walkthrough. Exact timing windows are not established, so treat the cues as guidance rather than guaranteed timing for every game version.

Loadout suggestions
The walkthrough recommends Yuan Jin’Gang for ranged Qi pressure and Celestial Seize as an interruption option against dangerous attacks. It also suggests Ruby if survival is the priority. These are that guide’s recommendations, not mandatory choices or independently tested rankings. A separate handbook listing describes the Dream in Flames route and mixed gold-to-red attacks, but does not establish a superior build: Icy Veins’ Where Winds Meet guide listing.
Reported first-clear rewards
All Things How lists these first-clear quantities; they are from a third-party guide, not an official current reward panel, and may change with patches.

The available third-party guides do not establish Yi Dao’s exact current game version, platform-specific differences, patch-current attack timings, or a currently verified reward panel. The boss index was marked checked July 19, 2026, but its corroboration is limited to the trigger and general warning-color rules rather than a focused move-by-move strategy: Game Guides’ boss index.
