Move carefully because it may teleport when approached. Raise Abra to level 16 to evolve it into Kadabra; to get Alakazam, trade Kadabra with another player or search for a rare wild Alpha Alakazam later in the game.
Where to find Abra
A walkthrough from PowerPyx reports Abra on the rooftops in Wild Zone 5. It also reports a rooftop Abra in north-west Magenta Sector 7. These are separate reported locations; the guide does not establish that either spawn is guaranteed.
Reach the Wild Zone 5 rooftops
- Bring a Pokémon that can use a Water-type attack.
- Use the attack on the purple goo blocking the route.
- Follow the cleared water route upward to the rooftops and look for Abra.
How to catch Abra before it teleports
Abra may teleport away when you approach, so avoid walking straight at it. PowerPyx recommends crouching and sneaking close enough to throw a Quick Ball, or sending out a Pokémon quickly to start a battle and catching Abra after defeating it. The Quick Ball is one suggested option, not a requirement.
Evolve Abra into Kadabra
Abra evolves into Kadabra at level 16, according to the How to Video Game guide. Evolution is manual: once Abra is ready, select it in your party and choose Evolve.

Get Alakazam: trade or search for an Alpha
The standard reported route is to trade Kadabra with another player. The guide says no held item is needed and that a Linking Cord is not available for this evolution in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
| Route | What to do | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Trade Kadabra | Arrange and complete a trade with another player. | The direct evolution method, but it requires another player. |
| Find wild Alpha Alakazam | After Main Mission 38, search Wild Zone 20. | A reported low-chance, late-game encounter; it is not guaranteed. |
The Alpha alternative is reported by PowerPyx. It may suit a player who would rather search than arrange a trade, but it is not a dependable substitute if you need Alakazam quickly.
