Frigibax is reported to appear in the Mega Dimension DLC’s post-game, not in the ordinary early-game map. The route is to catch Rayquaza, finish “Hyperspace Mission 17: The Greatest Gift,” complete “Side Mission 188: Start Special Scanning,” then use a scan to find a five-star Dragon-type Hyperspace Wild Zone whose preview shows Frigibax. The reported evolution levels are 35 for Arctibax and 54 for Baxcalibur.
How to unlock Frigibax scans
According to All Things How’s guide, updated December 17, 2025, Frigibax is exclusive to the Mega Dimension DLC and requires post-game progress. Complete these prerequisites in order:
- Catch Rayquaza in Mega Dimension.
- Finish “Hyperspace Mission 17: The Greatest Gift.”
- On the following in-game day, complete “Side Mission 188: Start Special Scanning” when it triggers. This unlocks special scans for five-star Hyperspace zones.
How to scan for Frigibax
Earn 25,000 Research Points by entering Hyperspace Zones and completing their listed challenges, then return to Phillipe to request a scan. The scan result is randomized: it can produce a Battle Zone or Wild Zone, and the biome and type focus can vary. You are looking for a five-star Dragon-type Hyperspace Wild Zone with Frigibax’s silhouette in its preview. Several scan attempts may be necessary.
When the matching zone appears, Frigibax, Arctibax, and Baxcalibur may all spawn, but their positions depend on the zone layout. The guide advises catching Frigibax first if you cannot pursue every target, as the later evolutions are harder to catch and the survey is time-limited.

Prepare for the Hyperspace Wild Zone
All Things How recommends using a five-star donut for Hoopa to extend survey time, taking Pokémon with useful type coverage, and carrying high-grade Poké Balls and status tools. Frigibax is Dragon/Ice, with weaknesses to Rock, Fighting, Dragon, Steel, and Fairy, according to the official Pokédex entry.
The official Pokémon Legends: Z-A adventure guidance says some Pokémon flee when they notice you, so hiding or approaching from behind can help you avoid being spotted. Lowering a wild Pokémon’s HP in battle also makes it easier to catch. These are general catching tips, not Frigibax-specific encounter rules.

Frigibax evolution levels
| Current Pokémon | Evolves into | Reported requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Frigibax | Arctibax | Level 35 (All Things How, updated December 17, 2025) |
| Arctibax | Baxcalibur | Level 54 (All Things How, updated December 17, 2025) |
The guide describes both evolutions as level-based, with no special item or additional condition: use the evolve prompt from the party menu when it becomes available. It also reports that Pokémon caught in the five-star zone may already be at a level that allows an evolution prompt. These specific thresholds and encounter details are guide-reported; the official Pokédex confirms the Frigibax–Arctibax–Baxcalibur evolution line but does not list level requirements.
